AP, Sorry, can't answer your actual question, however here's a thought. If you have FSX running well on Win 7, stay there and do a dual boot to Win 8. There you can test to your heart's content about whether it's good to stay on Win 8 or 7. February 6, 201313 yr I have read about various problems with W8 and some addons... enough to not even think about W8. If I am going to buy a new computer (maybe this year) I want W7 on it. never change a winning team.

February 6, 201313 yr I've got a new laptop with Windows 8 on it and FSX runs perfectly here. No issues either. All's running at very good FPS too :-)
February 6, 201313 yr a lot of people are complaining about the usability of "new" windows interface aka Start - which is the only visual difference, the rest of the system is visually same as win 7. And yes i would recomend going to 8. Though you are a week late, you could have gotten the liscence for 40 usd, or maybe the offer is still going? Ivan Majetic ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO; 7900X3D; NZXT KRAKEN ELITE 360, GIGABYTE RTX 4080; G.SKILL TridentZ NEO RGB DDR5 64 Gb, WD HDD 2TB, SAMSUNG 980PRO, SAMSUNG 970EVO Plus 2x, ALIENWARE 3423DWF
February 6, 201313 yr I'm running dual boot now after a number of issues. I like Windows 8 and have no problem in all other applications and games, but FSX is not as forgiving. - Aaron
February 7, 201313 yr Author Now Problem is Coming in Windows 8 Ultimate: When I drive FSX in Windows Ultimate then message came as: Signal Out Of Range! What does that mean? Here in picture: Which Screen Resolution should I've needed to select?
February 7, 201313 yr So the disappearing joystick issue is no longer an issue in W8? I went back to W7 after tearing my hair out with that one!
February 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member I've noticed that the UiAutomationCore.dll CTD is more persistent in Win 8 pressing keys or Joystick buttons, as well as the usual FSX menu problems. Installing the old UiAutomationCore.dll into the FSX program files folder clamps it well. I've noticed some USB setups can cause problems with Win 7 and 8 but maybe more so now with Win 8. The joystick issue may be resolved with a different hub or switching devices around. I've noticed some USB items refuse to work with some configurations of hubs and devices. Try a joystick test as the only connected item. It's also possible some mobo's USB host controllers may require new drivers. You could test that with an addin USB host board. I still prefer to install into Program Files (x86) and before adding anything I set User group write and modify permissions on the FSX Program Files (x86) folder and allow subfolders. Win 8 should run FSX better with more efficient networking and core app switching and core graphics handling improved. I've had some feedback from upgraders being more than happy with the switch to Win 8 on a clean system. The tiled start page annoys at first but you will take to Win 8 in less time than you took to WinXP. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 7, 201313 yr I've been using Win8 64 bit since it's RTM and the only problem I've had is that I can't get the Level D 767 to work with it. It appears that the mfg had no interest in updating it for use with Win8 so I'll just write it off. Other than that FSX works great with it.
February 7, 201313 yr Commercial Member Sometimes programs have unfortunately continued to use deprecated functions in Windows which may have been supported in Vista but not now in 7; they are documented. Even more deprecated stuff becomes unavailable in Win 8. Deprecated roughly means "not going to be used next version". As Win Vista, Win 7, and Win 8 come along, some aspects of Windows supporting software programmed with old calls have now gone and the app fails. It is unfortunate but you will need to experiment or wait to see how others fare with your addons in this respect. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
February 7, 201313 yr Author Guys! My Resolution problem has been resolved. Thanks to all here. Now a problem has come again. You people will laugh on me that I've problems on problems. Now on Windows 8 Pro, An error comes that "An Error has come and your program will be closed. So Windows will find the solution of this problem". So my program closes immediately closes after clicking on CLOSE. This problem comes sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 1 minute and sometimes after some second. Another thing is that I assure you that I;ve not any Malware, Adware, virus, Trojan on my PC. So why this message comes? Why full flight doesn't happen. Is these any time changing issue? Can anyone change my time of FSX? OR anything else? Please tell me after researching. My FSX was good on Windows 7 Ultimate. But Windows 8 Pro has problem. Please find a solution to this. I will be grateful to you. Regards, AP.
