February 21, 201313 yr And don't gimme that "Three wheels are not the end. They are not even the beginning of the end. But they are, perhaps, the end of the beginning." This gave me a good laugh!
February 21, 201313 yr Ian, when you said 'Ford' I had to think of my own car. So I started making fun of the Churchill quote, combining it with my car ... It's a shame even my 2nd IP-adress got blocked by CS - I'd love to post this one "over there"!!! What happened to AVSIM
February 21, 201313 yr I am definitely not knocking Ford as a brand, just the Pinto model of the 70s which was notoriously and dangerously flawed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Pinto I see a similarity between it and the CS products that people back by saying 'yes it's flawed but I still like it'. Ok, your admitting it's broken but you like it, fine. I am saying it is broken and I don't want a broken product. Difference in opinion which is why I avoid CS debates like the plague on most occasions. Its like arguing over football teams. That said, the facts remain the same. The products are released incomplete and support is abysmal. There is nothing wrong with stating those facts so that people can make better educated decisions. Ignore the warnings and well documented history at your own peril I say. And on the debate of how can we say the PMDG 777 will be better when it's released: Really? Some people have obviously not used products from each developer. I think it is best put this way- I recently reformatted. Every PMDG product I own was reinstalled while not a single CS product has yet to make it off the back up drive. I highly doubt that PMDG is all of the sudden going to lay an egg. And to be quite honest, I don't really want either one of them because I don't do the kind of flying suited for a T7 but if I did I wouldn't dream of wasting my money on the CS plane with the PMDG version on the horizon. That is my couple of cents worth. If CS was the only dev in town then I would probably endure the miserable experience but with choices available even if only forth coming... I say pass on CS.

February 21, 201313 yr CS just uses this aspect to release their garbage prematurely and get your money and then move onto to something else while ignoring their customers. I am interested in purchasing CS 777, could you please tell us what is wrong with CS-777? Could you please tell us what you consider as being "garbage?"
February 22, 201313 yr I am interested in purchasing CS 777, could you please tell us what is wrong with CS-777? Could you please tell us what you consider as being "garbage?" Johnny I'm now bed ridden as a result of the nature of your question. Read through this topic to find your answer

February 22, 201313 yr It must also be remembered that when a developer sets a price point they in a way set the benchmark at which their product will be judged. Throw in the claims of systems depth, accurate flight dynamics and so on and even a decent product will turn out sour if it is over hyped and over priced. There is a sort of equilibrium in the add on market when it comes to expected features, hype and pricing. Most products pretty much fall right in where they belong. Some times you pay a bit more or expect a bit more from an add on that doesn't quite deliver but is never the less acceptable. Sometimes you find that rare exceptional value for a low price (like Accusim!). I'd say Captain Sim stray just a little too far into the deep end on that scale in terms of what they seem to hype up and subsequently charge for their products. Of course that alone isn't enough to condemn them but when you take into consideration their history of not fixing things and poor support... well the result is threads like this one.

The new air file is not included in their customer support section. It may be a hotfix, issued only in their forum, but I rather guess, it's made by another customer - there was some spoiler effectiveness tweaking going on a few days ago between some forum members. Anyway, I have never been concerned about the flight dynamics. To me it's simply way too incomplete for a "complete" v1.0 release and that should be clarified in their homepage/webshop advertising. Even with that clarification, to me it's rather a 40 Euro product than a 60 Euro product. And that product (40 Euros incl. VAT) still needs to be finished and debugged. What happened to AVSIM
February 22, 201313 yr On online activation you have to pay close attention when entering your order number (or whatever CS requests here - I don't remember exactly). Don't put any additonal characters in there - not even a space character. I also had this issue with CS installations. You really have to be careful with copy and paste. February 22, 201313 yr Yes, I could blame other developers, too. Even PMDG: They once enhanced their passenger version of the 747 by a freighter extension (some of those new freighter features would upgrade their passenger version simultaneously). Some time after selling the freighter/passenger upgrade, they would issue the upgrade (for the standalone passenger version ) for free. How does that feel after you paid additional money for their freighter expansion? I'm trying to figure out how this has anything to do with bugs? If you paid additional money for the freighter, you got the freighter model to fly around. That was the point of the upgrade price. The passenger model only received the different engine types as an upgrade.
February 22, 201313 yr Actually, I was rather talking of marketing and release policies more than of bugs, but ... You're right anyway, my example of PMDG's 744/-F is misplaced and misleading: I wanted the freighter, I got the freighter, plus the "passenger engines" as an added-value. Someone else would rather have aimed at the passenger upgrade, so they might feel a little p..., when the passenger upgrade was released as a free, standalone upgrade at a later stage. But, reviewing my former post, this feeling is understandable, yet not sensible: - We don't blame ORBX for cutting prices on their older products, just because we might have bought them before at a higher price. - We don't blame Burkhard Renk for giving us MyTraffic for free (in FS9.1 only!!!), just because, years ago, we had to pay for it. Regarding the passenger version of their FS 9/B744, to my knowledge, PMDG never promised more than they delivered. And a freebie for a long-term-B744-passenger-version customer isn't a bad thing, actually. My apologies for erroneously connecting the dots the way I did ... What happened to AVSIM
February 23, 201313 yr The 737 is a strange aircraft to hand fly. If the nose is slowly rising, I reduce power to compensate (this is at very low speeds, and without touching the trim wheel), but the nose continues to rise up and up as the plane slows down to almost stalling speed. Totally unlike any of the other payware airliners that I have. Is that normal? I would have expected the nose to drop when the airspeed is reducing.... It's a good idea to learn basic aerodynamics in a light prop before jumping into an airliner. http://www.free-online-private-pilot-ground-school.com/Aerodynamics_in_flight.html Regards Rob Prest
