Captainsim 777

I bought the 707 and Love it...then made the mistake of buying the 727...known sound issues that were never fixed...and the 737 that CS dropped like a hot potato in favor of a 777 when PMDG announced they were coming out with a T7...so the 737 is half finished as the rest of their projects. But with the TSS soundpak the 707 is not a bad ol bird for old school flying.

There is a decent fix for that sound issue, especially if you own the 707. Well documented in their forums.

Oh, you're still considering buying it?

Why ask the question is it worth it, if you'll end up disregarding our suggestions anyway?

The EFB isn't an EFB, it's a photo library, a $60 alternative to Microsoft Photo Viewer, not even a slight bit of exaggeration. The FMC is functional, but far from complete, not even a working FMC COMM page.

It is still unknown when PMDG 777 will be released so I was looking for a temporary solution until it comes out. What any other alternative we have besides waiting? Why did you buy If you don't like it?

I bought it in a sale when most products, including the 777 Captain, were just 9.99 (Euros, I think).

Right now it's 59.99 (in Euros anyway). That is, IMHO, a different league. Livery packs, animations and other eye-candy just can't justify that price; my 2 cents, anyway ...

P.S.: To ease my wait, I finally jumped on that 747-400X. That was just slightly over 42 Euros for me, NOT yet V2.0, of course. Complete, VNAV working, better on framerates, it even has synoptic displays and a good deal of automation. A 777 with just the electronic checklists missing ... ;-)

I said this before, I bought it because of a lack of patience, I was looking for a temporary solution until the PMDG bird, and I didn't know what I'm getting myself into.

Sounds Familiar?

I think I'm going to give in, and start telling people to just go ahead and buy it. Share the pain, for goodness sakes.

The CS 777 is a beautiful plane in and out. The problem is that some of the systems are not complete. If you are waiting for a complete CS 777 then you should think this way so as to avoid becoming a beta tester:

.xx Alpha versions (still adding features)

1.0 Beta version (this is what is out now)

1.1 Release candidate

1.2 RTM

The CS will never have the same complexity in systems as the PMDG (whenever they get it released). Graphically, however, the CS is not going to be beat. Take a look at one of the many YT vids. So each sim pilot needs to figure out how they want to use their 777. Personally, I'm not interested in reading thick manuals and running through a bunch of checklists before anything works. So CS with another update or two will be exactly what I need.

Yeah same reason as me but I am holding now until a patch or sale.

I personally wish they would concentrate on classic airplanes. There are so many that need quality FSX versions. The classic 747 series. The DC-8. I guess they don't sell as well as the 767 and 777 but CS are better at less system complicated aircraft. Glass cockpits are not what they are strong at.

Indeed! I also have the 707 and love it a very much! Plus I don't believe that the classic airliners market is that bad either - if anything, I think people may be showing more of an interest now in the birds of yester year. I would LOVE to see a quality 747SP, and also a quality 747 classic to replace the amazing RFP 747-200.

The 707 is less systems intensive, but the modeling and the FDE is very well done. I always use Matt Z's manuals to fly it and as far as I can tell they got very close to the real deal. I am a 747-400 and 737 NG nutter, but I spend a lot of time in the venerable old 707, and I can only say a BIG thank you to CS for building this great bird.

I also have their C-130 full package for FSX, bougth it on a sale, and I would gladly have paid full price for that one, amazing bird! That being said, I think it is clear that the glass cockpit stuff is another matter altogether, and I have said it before and will say it again - I hope they can sort the problems out with this 777 of theirs. There seems to be great interest in it!

I also believe that when you charge that amount of money for a product, which as was pointed out by one poster, is charging more than PMDG does for the NGX, which is arguably the finest airliner simulation ever produced for FSX and you make a statement to the user. If you do that, you are entering an arena where you are putting yourself up against the very best in the business. You have to be able to deliver for that amount of money, and if you cannot, people are likely to come after you with blazing guns!

My 2 cents :-)

Kind regards

It's good value for 9.99 ... There may even be some potential for the 40 Euro-range market segment.

The very next patch will probably be no more than just a fix for the VNAV issue. Systems are going to stay incomplete with the next release, that's my bet anyway.

So I guess it's gonna take at least TWO SPs for a RTM. Even then it's not gonna play in the 60 Euro-league, my 2 cents ...

Every day on the official CS forum, a new customer posts their deep disappointment over this so-called v1.0 priced at 60 Euros. And every day a couple of posts over there get deleted by the CS forum administrators for the sake of appearances ...

What happened to AVSIM

Im sorry, now I know everyone is going to probably nit-pic and probably hate me for saying this, but honestly, I have used the CS777. now as a "hard core" simmer and soon to be holding a PPL pilot licence, I can say, it has a few bugs, but, its pretty good considering its one of the only FSX native 777's. It does have bugs, but they are not bugs that make me want to stop flying this aircraft, which I happen to like. Now people instantly say "PMDG is a going to be miles ahead and that CS's 777 is rubbish" I don't agree, For one, how do you know the PMDG 777 will be better, CS are still making improvements and they are adding more and more features every update, that being said, as an NGX lover, PMDG will not fail to impress, but im just saying, don't judge until it is actually released, then we will see, not saying PMDG will be bad because knowing PMDG, their 777 will have extremely high standards and include very innovative and new ideas for the FS industry, That being said, CS does have most yes "most" systems modelled. and im not sure of PMDG's pricing either, but I would say it will be considering the NGX cost more than $50 bucks which quite expensive compared to the CS one, anyway, just thought I would say something because im sort of sick of people putting the CS 777 down, even people that don't have it are..... anyway, not being biased or anything, and this is just from my opinion, but honestly, I like, and will like both planes whenever PMDG releases their version, that's just my two cents worth.

Over 60 dollars for something like CS 777 isn't cheap either.

Anyway, PMDG 777 will be superior both in terms of system simulation and flight dynamics which is something CS has never been particularly good at.

but you have to say, CS does have some systems, enough to satisfy me until whenever PMDG release theirs

I agree with alex0987, how does people know that PMDG 777 will be bug free when it's out? 737 had two SPs so its normal for a software to have problems in the release. Even Windows has many bugs and gets updated always. I don't take side and defend CS or PMDG but some people in here are really taking money from PMDG to advertise and talk bad about other products or they are too eager that can't wait for anything. I don't think I'm going to pay a full price but 9.99€ is very good considered looking to the situation. I probably buy PMDG 777 also when it's out but I'm bored of people talking bad about other competitors. Just give a rest and wait for some patches or just don't make comments about it anymore.
