February 9, 201313 yr Lol, you do not know there is pdf version of manual you got with your NGX? Long story short, upper row of buttons allows you to select where you want to transmit your voice via MIC. Lower row of knobs allows you to select what channel do you want to listen in your headset and how loud. Keep in mind that you can transmit at only one channel while you can hear multiple channels. I think in NGX they simulated only VHF and NAV features, HF, SVC, FLT and PA doesnt work. Lj. February 9, 201313 yr Hi, Do they actually work? I mean if you press PA system what happens? Any announcements build in? They do actually work. E.g.: If you set the frequency 122.000 MHz on your captains radio, and the frequency 123.000 MHz on the first officers radio, you can choose on which of the two frequencies you "communicate" on. For example your captains radio is set to the tower frequency and your first officers radio to the departure frequency. Now as you climb out and want to change the frequency, you don't have to dial it in on the captains radio, you just have to select the MIC to the VHF 2 on the captains audio panel. This works for FSX default ATC and also for online platforms like IVAO. You can basically fast hop between 3 frequencies, with a single button push. And no, there are no audio files as you are the captain, you have to talk. John Rubens
February 9, 201313 yr Just to be fully clear, the manual is included with the ngx, so you will find that page for free in the start menu -pmdg... Some functions of the panel (most of them) are limited by fsx limits. Squared buttons will select the mic source. This means that pushing PA you will do a passenger announcment, pushing VHF1 you will speak with the comm 1 radio frequency, 2 for comm2 and so on... Round knobs/pushbuttons are the playback selections/volumes. This means that pushing VHF COM 1 you will hear that radio, you can adjust the volume rotating it. SPKR button/knob will activate the cockpit speaker. Again, volume knobs are limited to off-max due to fsx limits Regards Andrea Daviero
February 10, 201313 yr On Vatsim (I suspect IVAO too), you can use the buttons to listen to 2 frequencies at once. (limited to 2 on Vatsim platforms Squawkbox and FSinn). You can only transmit on one (as per real aircraft), but you can listen to 2. Possibly useful to set 1 frequency to active ATC frequency and the second one to ATIS for instance, something I do relitavley often. February 10, 201313 yr Author Guys thanks a lot for all the info you sent me. I love it here and I love flying this beautiful, complex plane slowly but surely and especially from the Chairman of Eurostar-Aviation, Stephen Cooke with all his patience in teaching me FSBUILD and FMC. Stelios Stelios Christofides
February 10, 201313 yr On the real plane each panel will allow to set only one mic selection but you can hear from all the sources (nav, comm) if you want. The simulator itself is limited. Regards Andrea Daviero
February 11, 201313 yr I am aware that there are two sets of Mic selector/Reciever knobs, but what is the purpose of the one on the rear overhead panel? (Near the IRS mode selectors). Julian O'Leary
February 11, 201313 yr Pedestal: The left panel is for captain, right one for FO Overhead is for the observer/third member on the jumpseat or eventually as a backup Regards Andrea Daviero
