ai_player.dll ?

I've just experienced this error for the first time as I approached Gate 8 at EDDV, Hannover, Germany. I was about 50ft from the end of the flight! Frustrating.

I have MyTrafficX v5.4C. As this is a default airport I'm guessing it could be a corrupted traffic file. First time into EDDV and first time with this error. I'll raise it on the MyTraffic forum.

Update:

I've confirmed that the ai_player.dll crash on exit has to do with Vancouver+ V3. If I remove it from the scenery library the crash disappears. If I remove FSDT CYVR and install Vancouver+ the crash does not exist on exit of FSX. Apparently FSX is having some sort of fit at closing causing the crash after exit. I've flown other areas of the world and can not repeat the crash. The crash only happens thus far under the following circumstances:

1. Fly PNW region

2. Both FSDT Vancouver & Vancouver+ V3 installed

I've found some other threads that state that this is a known bug within FSX that rears itself when running a lot of extra add-ons within FSX and that it's not directly related to AI aircraft itself. As for run-time of FSX it runs great and no crashes during flight/s. The crash only occurs after exiting if flying in the PNW region with both FSDT Vancouver & Vancouver+ v3. Removing Victoria+ from scenery has no effect on resolving crash with ai_player.dll. Only when Vancouver+ or FSDT CYVR removed via scenery library will the crash go away.

This is with a clean install of FSX Acceleration with no added 3rd party AI program. Using only FSX default AI. Anyone else use Vancouver+ with FSDT CYVR...or better yet if you don't mind could someone be kind enough to perhaps purchase them and confirm the crash issue I have when using both these add-ons together.

My own experience with this is that ai_player.dll tends to crash if I have too much air traffic running.

Try turning that down in Settings and see if it makes a difference, with the heavy scenery installed. It would seem to make sense to blame the add-on, but it might simply be invoking more traffic with its added detail.

Very good point

That's not my experience. I have flown into EGLL and other busy airports loads of times and never saw it. On a flight into EDDV (Hannover, Germany) I experienced it for the first time. Default airport with minimal traffic. A corrupted flight sounds more like it to me. Only repeated tests at the same airport will nail it.

Both AI settings are at 20%. This is also a very newly cleaned install of FSX Acceleration (1+week). The Vancouver+ v3 is definitely the tipping point on this.

Considering i'm the OP of this old thread, its a bit ironic that its recently restarted happening on my system:-(  I do not have Vancouver+ installed, nor FSDT Vancouver.

I do have PNW installed though.

Happens at EVERY SINGLE FSX exit now, regardless of location!

Soooooo frustrating, as it means FSX does not complete its 'tidy up'

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with any recent Microsoft patch/es related to C++?

I have a feeling it's related to Traffic 360 on my system.

I bought 360 a while ago but had an ongoing, ai_player.dll, error with EGKK so uninstalled it. Not had a problem since. Last week I decided to give 360 another go and tonight, bang, ai_player.dll at EGKK CTD

...hmmmm...

Not really had to time to investigate tonight but Traffic 360 has a egkk bgl file so I have deselected the 360 related entry in the scenery file. We'll see what happens but it will be a shame to lose 360 again if it comes to that.

This is one of those problems that has driven me to distraction over the years.  Even after many reinstalls of both Windows and FSX, the error reapears.  Even though it only happens on exiting FSX, its much more serious than some, as it means none of the 'tidying up' within FSX gets done, and the fsx.cfg and other important ini and config files do not get saved, thus creating additional errors and problems.

I've NEVER had Traffic 360 installed on my system, so its not that alone.  The biggest common demonominators seem to be FSDT and Orbx addons.  I've also had it happen with just 3% AI active.

Windows 10 (x64) - X-Plane 11 - M/B: Asus ROG Maximus IX Hero - CPU: i7 7700k (@5.0GHz) - RAM: 32Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 @ 3200MHz - Video: GTX1080ti - Cooling: Custom water loop (EK 140 Revo D5 pump/res combo, EK EVO CPU block, EK XE360 Rad)

Sorry Dougal, I should've been clearer. My specific issue with ai_player.dll is in the sim. A CTD at or approaching EGKK, not on FSX exit.

Three months ago I reduced AutoGen complexity by one notch (from very dense to dense) and haven't had a single repetition of the crash when closing FSX.

It really was that simple for me.

If you fly in the Orbx/FTX PNW area, this is a known problem.  Just do a search on the FTX forum for ai_player.dll.
