Radar contac

Featured Replies

I know this should probably be on the radar contact section (move if needed) but it does relate the NGX as the only plane I ever load on FSX.

My question is how well does it work with the 737NGX I like to fly as realistic as I can. I hear that it doesn't support SIDs and STARS? And also that it doesn't allocate a taxi rout.

Just wanted some NGXers opinions on the product

Thanks

...then you're going to want a real person running your ATC. There's a reason we still have people as controllers: automation sucks at doing what controllers do.

Try VATSIM or IVAO. You'll never look back.

I have had a look at Vatsim and does seem to be the way ill have to go l. Think ill give it a proper look into tonight thanks for your advice

It doesn't tell you how to get to the runway and it doesn't directly recognise SIDS or STARS.

You can however tell it you are following a IAP and it will leave you alone. I use it with the NGX all the time and have never had a problem with it.

It's far from perfect, but much better than the FSX ATC.

Fully agree with Gazzareth.

I use RC for long time and i do not imagine to make my flight without it.

Of course RC has limitations, but on the other hand with RC u can declare emergency, RTO, RC can guide u to alternate destination, RC can put u into holding and so on...

Definitely one of top 5 add ons for FSX.

I forgot to mention about one of the best option that RC is giving for users - u have virtual officer who can handle all communication.

So basically u do not have to worry about it, working like a charm. :)

That's the best definition of what it is. In terms of big iron you can call for pushback. In terms of SIDs and STARs, it recognizes the fixes along the way...not the specific instructions in the SID or STAR. It also gives altitude restrictions, altitude step climbs and descents, descent at pilot's discretion, reasonable turns and frequency changes are reasonable it'll vector you for an approach or you can do the full approach if you like. You can ask for a visual approach as well. It interacts, somewhat, with AI traffic but not that well...occassionally you'll have another IFR bird right off your nose or fly through you on the runway. It does not issue specific directions for taxiing. It only does IFR. It doesn't seem to affect framerates.

It's pretty good and I like to support it in the hope that they keep improving.

The only thing that Radar contact has over VATSIM is that you will always get fully staffed stations while on VATSIM its a hit or miss. Old steam gauged airliners like the DC-9 practically need ATC if they have no form of modern navigation equipment in bad weather.

A<380 love at first flight

I use radar contact for offline flying and love it; been a user since version 1.

Just started playing with pilotedge for real atc. It makes vatsim look like childs play. Its a pay service so it keeps out the riff raff using real professional controllers. The only downfall is the small coverage area but it's great for vfr.
