For $5000 I would expect royalties on the investment. If your a programer who has the right stuff to make this happen I am listening.

Moe

Sorry, no royalties of any kind (you could make it yourself if that's what you want.  :P  ) But, we do offer a money-back guaranty. However, we do require that the product is returned unopened and in its original packaging.

Sureal. Well if you mean it won't happen because MS halted development and won't release an SDK then you need to shake your head. This software that has been left like this from MS, now has from third party developers a working repaint utility and a working GPS. Not so sureal to think things like autopilot could come down the pipe in the future.

Moe

What third party working GPS are you referring to?

If it's Gmap, that's been used by a number of people almost since day one with Flight.

I wouldn't bet on it, but you could be right in that someone might make a working autopilot. Chances are pretty slim, however, due to the way the aircraft are handled in Flight.

Thank you.

Rick

I am thinking along the same lines. If the internal workings of Flight are ever deciphered, I would be surprised if it was approached from that direction. Adding scenery seems much more likely, and of course liveries and simple planes.

Yea I was refering to GMap. Even though it has been out a long time for Flight, does not make it any less of an addon from a 3rd party developer. Perhaps it could be dificult or never happen but it is a posibility. Has anyone ever asked now that MS has ditched Flight why they still refuse to offer an SDK? We all are in agreement here that Flight has a far better code and thus framerates that other sims so why not stab at it all we can to get everything we want out of it. It might take a lot of time but I believe development will continuw to grow. Just slowly. For now.

Moe

I agree, as time passes there seem to be fewer reasons to not offer an sdk, or at least for MS to give their blessing for a skilled hobbyist to put one together (sorry if that sounds naive, I really have no idea how much work goes into an sdk). I said before half in jest but I think many in the community would be prepared to pitch in to cover the hobbyists expenses, and with the current situation MS just have inert code depreciating in value on their balance sheet.

As an afterthought does anyone know who the decision maker for this type of thing at MS would be?

There is no decision maker for this type of thing anymore.   As I mentioned a few days ago, I have been informed that the contract for the last developer on the Flight team has ended. There will, therefore, probably be no further work on an S.D.K.

So, please be very kind and considerate towards our friend, Stonelance, who is hard at work on a ... Toolkit! Isn't that what you want? (Yes, say the Flight enthusiasts in unison!)

Best regards.

Luis

YES! If the toolkit opens up interesting avenues I for one would be happy to throw a few dollars at him for his work.

He already has my manlove...:)

BTW Luis, I understand there is no inhouse work possible anymore, which is why I mentioned at least giving their blessing to a talented hobbyist to do it.

Several people tried to get MS to release the SDK, including former Flight team members, but it doesn't seem they are interested. Aside from the time and money it would take to package it up in a form usable outside of the build environments the Flight team used, there is likely legal obligations with middleware providers that Flight uses that would make it difficult\impossible to release their tools.

Understood. Thanks again for the work btw Stonelance - I think you've also probably noticed the jump in activity and enthusiasm on the forum caused by your work so far.
