March 29, 201313 yr Hello guys, I am having some issues with REX Essential Plus Overdrive. I just got it yesterday. Well, my issue is that for some reason things are not being applied to FSX. The graphics are not bad bad, but they are not nice though. I have seen the videos and my fsx does not look the same. The graphics are not smooth and looking good as on the videos. The terrain is horrible etc. I have cheked my settings and they are on Ultra etc and by the way, my PC is a custom PC with 2x GTX 670's and a 1770K i7 processor. I have followed many videos and I just dont know why is not working. Also, why are the FPS so slow when I can play other games like BF3 @ 160 FPS? Please see the image attached for reference. The long process of installing the textures etc I have already done it. Any ideas what is causing this issue? Thanks + Sorry for my grammar. English is not my first language. Also, any ideas why the FPS are so low when using a super computer? I play Battlefield 3 at about 160 FPS and this one is slow? Thanks
March 29, 201313 yr Yeah something's up there. Try the REX support forums, the registration might be a bit long but they're helpful. Lee
March 29, 201313 yr Did you set TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD in your fsx.cfg? Have you looked at the Hardware/Software guide pinned at the top of this forum? It has many good tips for improving visuals. In REX Options Manager, what resolution textures are you installing? I set my performance level to "Custom" and the install 1024x1024 textures and 32 bit wave animation. This gives a good tradeoff of visuals and performance on my system. What FPS are you getting in FSX? FSX is very CPU-heavy, so FPS will depend very much on your processor speed. I OC to 4.8GHz, but even so I lock FPS at 30 for smooth animation and to avoid stutters. Some people do better with unlocked but 30 FPS lock is pretty common for FSX. Barry Friedman
March 29, 201313 yr Just as Lee said, head over here and start the process of getting help. Just a heads up so as not to waste any time, you will need to add your purchase order number to your signature at the REX forum in order to get help. \Robert Hamlich/
March 29, 201313 yr ... basic question: did you configure propperly? like really gave it the time to change the defaults....?? Because one of the first fings I saw when I propperly changed REX where the runway and taxiway texutres, witch aren't changed on your screenshot.... What also might work is refreshing your add-on scenery folder (settings > scerery library > click "ok" > done) that way if something has channged (REX applied) it will show. But if you have done that, it might be a problem with REX it self and like said go to their support forum and ask their team!
March 29, 201313 yr Author Yeah... I did set everything. Everything is on the best setting on REX app. I have spent over 6 hours trying to fix it but I can't. :( And yes, I did register and put my order number etc and is good to go but I see that they take a long time to accept you :S I will wait for them and then make a post over there.
March 29, 201313 yr Most important thing bout REXE is to always run it as administrator and to exclude the whole REXE folder in your firewall settings.
March 29, 201313 yr Looking at those screenshots, I'd say the problem isn't REX (or at least not just REX) - the screen shot looks low-res and full of aliasing, and there don't appear to be any textures on the plane. I'd agree with the suggestions to go through the tuning guide first and get FSX looking good. Then address any issues with the REX textures. Scott
March 29, 201313 yr Yeah... I did set everything. It can be pretty frustrating, all I can say is to read the manual carefully regarding the configuration, your patience will pay off once you get a reply from the REX team. **Edit** I see that you've registered at the REX forum, once you have posting privileges you must become a verified member by posting your order number in that post right here. \Robert Hamlich/
March 29, 201313 yr Author Ok... Will check all. I am currently uninstalling and starting all over again with the Admin option all the time and hope that helps. Will keep you posted. If you guys have any other idea, please let me know Thank you guys for your help.
March 29, 201313 yr Author Ok... I have reinstalled everything and this is how it looks like. I am guessing its looking a little better but not as good. About the fsx.cfg file, I dont understand what do I need to add. Does anyone has that file and could share it with me if its not too much to ask? The airplane looks a little better but I just dont know. In the videos, they have like some glare and it just looks amazing. I am still waiting to ask on the other forums to ask. Thanks
March 29, 201313 yr Yes it does look much better. Have a good read of the FSX Guide put together by Paul J, it may provide more insight as to what settings you should be applying to the .cfg. It looks as though you have NVIDIA Inspector installed do you not? The guide will provide you with the appropriate NI settings. There are numerous settings that people swear by but they do not apply to everyone... the guide should be a good start. FYI FSX is not influenced by 2 x GPU's running in SLI, there is no benefit. Here are the entries that I have edited/added to my .cfg: [bUFFERPOOLS] //This is not in the .cfg, you must add it UsePools=1 Poolsize=8388608 RejectThreshold=262144 [GRAPHICS] TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 HIGHMEMFIX=1 ForceVWindowedVSync=1 MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 // Must have for good AA Can be 8 MultiSampleQuality=8 // Can be 4 for better performance. [Display] TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120 UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=30 WideViewAspect=True [Main] FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.10 \Robert Hamlich/
March 29, 201313 yr Glare is from Lens flare and light bloom in FSX. You need to compare equal settings to equal settings. What do you think is wrong with the pic in post #12?
March 29, 201313 yr Author Thank you! Is looking a lot better. Still not the same but I guess thats good enough for me until I get to ask over the other forums to get the best settings.
