March 29, 201313 yr Author Glare is from Lens flare and light bloom in FSX. You need to compare equal settings to equal settings. What do you think is wrong with the pic in post #12? mmmm... Well, the texture is not really smooth, there is not glare etc, and I also notices the textures are not sharp and so the image is not really clear. That also goes to the terrain. Any ideas?
March 29, 201313 yr REX does not cause glare. REX does not change ground textures. REX does not touch the terrain textures. Your settings are too high for your computer and it doesn't matter what you are getting in other games.

I can over clock to 5.0ghz
March 29, 201313 yr Any ideas? It appears that you just joined Avsim today. Is that correct? How much experience have you had with FSX. i.e. what are you evaluating against? March 29, 201313 yr Author It appears that you just joined Avsim today. Is that correct? How much experience have you had with FSX. i.e. what are you evaluating against? Well, I had FSX since 2009 I believe but never used it a lot because I had cheap computer. But then just recently I got my gaming PC (Which I use the most for BF3) and I decided to get back to FSX since I am doing my pilot instruments rating and I know that using the simulator for IFR and as well as VFR will help me get some simulator experience. And of course! FSX is not taking over my actual classes. But yes, understanding FSX is quite a challenge for me because I just "started" using it. @@JSkorna, I am taking a look at it. Its pretty long but I'm sure it will be very helpful. Thanks
March 29, 201313 yr Author One last question... Is it possible that some of the airplanes texture looks bad because of the actual airplane? I mean like its because they have their own texture files and the developers who made that airplane did not made as super HD or whatever. Any thoughts on that? Thanks
March 29, 201313 yr Instead of attempting any modifications of your FSX.cfg here, I think you need to check out the AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide that has pictures of the display driver settings and some possible tweaks you can make to your FSX.cfg as recommended by bdf369 in Post #3. Your settings do appear high and fsx does not always work well with high settings. The AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide is pinned at the top of this forum and was developed just for members like you. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 30, 201313 yr Hi TopGeo. I had the exact same problem. I installed REX, and the textures weren't applying to FSX. I posted over on the REX support forums, and luckily figured it out, not sure if this will help, but might as well try First of all, I'm assuming you're running 64 bit? If so, try reinstalling FSX onto your C: drive ( C:Flight Simulator X) not 'program files x86 > microsoft games > fsx'. You can do this by clicking 'more options' on the first install screen, it will give you an option to browse where you want to install. Supposedly having a large program like FSX in the x86 directory can mess some things up. Reinstall REX on the C: drive as well. Second of all, do you have the acceleration expansion pack? Because REX needs FSX Service pack 2 to operate. Acceleration contains SP2, and if you don't have it, you can get it from the link below. Try those 2 things and see what happens, because it worked for me Good luck, and report back if it works! April 2, 201313 yr If he goes to the trouble and effort in properly uninstalling REX per the detailed instructions on the REX site then I most highly recommend that before re installing REX he should spend some time in FSX without REX to see what his experience is then. Need to isolate the issue. If he does that it will likely let him know if it is an issue with REX, or if it is a non-REX issue. I have spend countless hours uninstalling and re installing add-ons without doing this, and my frustration multiplied.
