April 9, 201313 yr I imagine a lot of us on AVSIM have bits of home cockpit hardware from the likes of CP, Opencockpits, Engravity etc (MCPs, FMCs, EFISs etc). I guess they are mostly for the 737s and 747s. How are you planning to fly the 777 around any existing hardware you use?
April 9, 201313 yr Not intending to spoil your thread; just still haven't figured out myself why I did this: I bought a hardware MCP (Boeing type, of course, some 400 Euros) and, after a couple of weeks, I uninstalled it and went back to working my MCPs by mouse clicks. Advantages: - quick inputs by changing 10's of degrees of heading and 1.000's of feet of altitude - and at the same time very precise changes, different from spinning those hardware knobs fast - even the night lighting (backlit) was more enjoyable that way (on the screen rather than on the hardware MCP) This leaves me (a bit confused about myself, though) with: - a 2nd monitor to drag a number of pop-up panels to - a (hardware) flight yoke - rudder pedals And that's pretty much it. And just to add to that confusion: I stopped using TrackIR and went back to those "dinosaur type" 2d panels ... Is there a cure for my disease?!? What happened to AVSIM
April 9, 201313 yr I just acquired mcp combo panel from vrinsight and I hope someone will write a lua script for it to use in LINDA
April 9, 201313 yr Just a sidestick and rudder pedals, no room on the desk for a yoke. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
April 9, 201313 yr Same, sidestick and (soon) rudder pedals. April 9, 201313 yr Isn't the "sidestick" still called a joystick?!? This is a Boeing thread, isn't it??? What happened to AVSIM
April 9, 201313 yr Isn't the "sidestick" still called a joystick?!? This is a Boeing thread, isn't it??? Both terms are correct, I use the term sidestick even when using it for non FS games since it remains to my side. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
April 10, 201313 yr I've heard we get the 777 (M)CDU as a (2d) pop-up. Anyone knows, whether the lower ECAM will be available as a separate pop-up as well? (I'd like to have my ECLs visible all the time while working the other panels.) What happened to AVSIM
April 10, 201313 yr lower ECAM will be available as a separate pop-up as well? I.e. French for MFD? - Luke Pabari
April 11, 201313 yr I.e. French for MFD? Nearly, Luke: Sidestick for MFD (I like Airbus terms in Boeing threads ... ;-) ) Would be welcome to have that as a pop-up, too. What happened to AVSIM
April 11, 201313 yr I'm just going to use my trusty hotas warthog with saitek pro flight combat pedals. Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
April 14, 201313 yr Flypfc column yoke, FDS CDU, jetmax 737 throttle quad, rudder pedals, a couple of go flight modules. Trackir with 3 23" monitors via triplehead2go.
April 14, 201313 yr Author Flypfc column yoke, FDS CDU, jetmax 737 throttle quad, rudder pedals, a couple of go flight modules. Trackir with 3 23" monitors via triplehead2go. Cool. Are the buttons on the 737 CDU different to the 777 though?
April 14, 201313 yr Yes the face is different but I'm hoping the 737 style will be able to be programmed to work with the 777. I'm confident it can.
April 15, 201313 yr I'm going to use my full scale 777 cockpit that I'm building hopefully the pmdg bird will.be out by then because I'm using the cs 777 for testing and I'm about to lose my mind because of that plane ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
