April 10, 201313 yr Author Johann I would buy the power adapter for your yoke and you will be all set I know its a pain to wait but that will be your best bet and it is cheaper here you go good luck http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Flight-Power-Adapter-PZ44UX/dp/B0050BK1RQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365634422&sr=8-1&keywords=saitek+ac+adapter Wait.! is the power adaptor used for the yoke, not for the usb hub that is builded into the yoke? Johann Botes
April 10, 201313 yr I have both one for the yoke and the hub is separate because I have to many usb devices if you dont have to many devices get the saitek power supply start with that first why waste those nice ports they work great when powered up there is a connection on your yoke for this ac adapter. Amazon is exactly where I ordered the power supply for my Saitek yoke and that power supply was a step backward from not using one. Here is a copy/paste of my communication with MatCatz followed by the only response I got from them. Note that it still appears to be an automated response as it clearly failed to recognize that I had already purchased and used an external power supply. The Saitek PS from Amazon. ============ I have recently acquired both a Pro Flight Cessna Yoke and Pro Flight Multi-Panel. I had some power issues with the Multi-Panel with its USB cable plugged into the Cessna Yoke. I acquired the separate power supply for the yoke. For some reason when I plug the power supply into the Yoke the power to the Pro Flight Multi Panel decreases. The readout of the Multi Panel gets very dim and the buttons, selector, and adjustment knob do not respond to input. I tested the power supply with a multimeter and verify it is working, putting out about 4.95v. If I plug the Yoke into a powered USB connection either on my Dell monitor or on my desktop, (but do not attempt to use the Yoke power supply) it has enough power to supply to the Multi Panel (USB plugged into the Yoke USB ports) to get the Multi Panel brightly lit, but the Multi Panel may eventually go dark. Why would the yoke when separately powered from the accessory power supply fail to get adequate power to the yoke? If fact it appears to supply less power. Is it the yoke or the power supply that is a problem? Please help. Frank From: Mad Catz Inc. April 10, 201313 yr Confused step backward what do you mean ? I did not see your post sorry Ah helps if I read your post hmmm having none of those problems thats werid working perfectly for me , I have trim wheel - multi panel - quadrant and radio panel all connected to yoke hub works like a charm - thank god - maybe a 2.0 - 3.0 usb issue not sure but this sounds like a rare problem you had Rich Sennett
April 10, 201313 yr Author I think Im going to buy me ac hub. becuase im using 3 throttle Q., and have about 3 other usb's.Im affraid if I buy the AC it will only power up the the usb hubs in the yoke and not the yoke it self.if the USB hub does not work then I have to think of buying the AC.for the saitek Yoke. Will the AC adpter usb hub power up my siatek yoke.?Richared. - are you using a usb 1.0?
April 10, 201313 yr Yes the ac adapter for yoke will only power the yoke usb ports - you want to run the yoke straight to the computer - then anything else off of that hub - I have 2.0 and 3.0 hubs you have 1.0 thats weird how old is your computer Rich Sennett
April 10, 201313 yr hmmm having none of those problems thats werid working perfectly for me Do you have a multimeter? I would be interested in a couple of readings you might take. Perhaps I have a defective power supply. My reading for volts is in the messages I replicated above.... 4.95 V Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. April 11, 201313 yr Sorry Frank I do not have a MM - sorry I assure you my saitek components work great - hmm have you looked into a driver issue ? just throwing that out there I do not have a multi panel I have switch panel and radios - wish I had a MM that would clear some things up sounds like the yoke wonder if one of the pins are bent on either the yoke or the ac adapter - what do you have for a power supply in your computer mine is a 1200 watt gold corsair. Frank another thought do you have another panel that lights up like a radio panel if that does the same thing plugged into the yoke then it might still be the yoke or ac adapter if no problems its the multi panel not the yoke or the ac adapter panel itself might have a problem. April 11, 201313 yr Richard, My Saitek yoke and multi panel work great !!! As long as I plug them each into direct USB ports on my CPU. When I had issues like the OP was 1) when I was attempting to plug the Multipanel into a USB port on the yoke; and 2) when I added an external Amazon-supplied Saitek power supply to the yoke. Again, if I plug both into USB ports on the CPU I have no issues. I am still hopeful that the OP will resolve his issues by addressing Windows power saving settings. I have seen here on Avsim that has worked for quite a number of others. Richard, Sent you a PM. I wnet to power optionand set the performance to high . I changed the advance settings And said Never go to sleep or switch of Monitors. I also did what alot of people told me is to go into manger device and and change my usb hub settings, Which I did a 100 times. I also reinstalled my Drivers and nothing does the the thing. W What's very strange is a few days ago I did something and it worked for a whole flight but the next day it went back to shutting down... But my plan is to buy a usb hub with an ac power sourse, as it will take me 2 weeks to get the device from amazone. I should have done more rsearch on this device befor buying it. =( I hope this works....
April 12, 201313 yr Moderator Ray I have that yoke and it is powered I had to buy the power supply from saitek so I humbly disagree, its a crap shoot without the power its not the way to go put some power to it and be done with it. Richard, I've been ill so sorry for the late reply. All I can say is if it works for you then fine. I will double-check how my yoke is connected when I'm better. Has this problem been discussed on the Saitek forum? Ray (Cheshire, England). April 12, 201313 yr Moderator That does not make it true! And I have experience to back that up. I attempted to power a Saitek yoke and power the Saitek Multipanel from the a USB port on the yoke and had dropouts that killed the Multipanel when in flight. To resolve the issue I even added the Saitek external power supply to power my Pro Flight Cessna Yoke and incredibly the display on the Multipanel dimmed considerably when the external power supply was in use. I wrote to Saitek customer service via their web site and got only a canned response advising the use of an external supply. I wrote them and once again advised them that I was using their very own external power supply and it made matters even worse. I documented with photos. They went silent. I now power the yoke and it's DIN connected throttle quadrant, and the Multipanel, each from different USB ports directly on my computer. I love the products, but....... I hope this members issue turns out to be Windows power management settings. Frank, Adding the multi-panel device will make extra demands on the USB port and I'm not surprised you had problems with it. But you now run the yoke & throttle quadrants from one USB port on the mobo and everything seems to be okay if I understand you correctly. That is what Johann is trying to do so in theory it should work. But without knowing more about his system it's difficult to help. Perhaps if Johann could publish his PC specs in his profile we can assess his system. His power supply rating would also be helpful. Mine is 750 watt. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 12, 201313 yr Moderator I've just checked the connection on my yoke and it's plugged into a USB powered hub. Apologies for saying it was plugged into the mobo. I have two powered hubs for my GoFlight modules. I cannot remember if the Saitek instructions recommended a powered hub or not. But if Johann is experiencing problems it seems sensible to try one.
