April 10, 201313 yr Hi. I struggling with my Saitek pro yoke. The Saitek keep shutting down because of low amount of power from my usb. I done the step from the the support page, but no success. Then connected it to my laptop and it works fine. the yoke works for like 10 to 20 min and stop responding to my commands..So Im think of getting a USB Y cable. Which have 2 male end's and 1 female end's. Do you think this might work or must I buy like a new usb hardware that I must put into my motherboard?Thank you - Saitek work for 10 min and then no respons after- do work on laptop- both pc's runs on Win 7 64- bit- Did try Saitek methrored.
April 10, 201313 yr Moderator Peter is correct. By default the power saving option is on with all USB ports which is why the yoke goes to sleep after a while. I've had this yoke for several years now and have never needed any extra cabling or powered hub. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 10, 201313 yr Author Thank you both for your replies. Peter my PC power option is in high performance if that is what you mean. But I noticed that it turn of my displays, so I changed it to never switch off displays. Hopefully that might have caused the problem.I will send post if it works or not.But thank you. =D Yoke just stopped working. What strange is that the clock and stopwatch works but axis dont want to move at all when you turned or pulled back. =(
April 10, 201313 yr Moderator Johann, Just to confirm the power setting. I have XP but the setting in Device Manager should still be there in W7. If you display Device Manager and show View by Connection then right-click the relevant USB device and select Power Management tab. You should have it set like this. This is from my laptop, not my FS PC but the same principle applies. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 10, 201313 yr Moderator You need to buy a powered usb hub and your problem will go away no way around it this is what you need to do. I disagree. I have the yoke plus two throttle quadrants and it's all fed from one USB port on my PC. I've pasted this from the Saitek website. http://www.saitek.com/uk/supp/yokefsx.html There are additional USB ports on your Yoke. Currently, we provide additional Throttle Quadrants, Rudder Pedals and the Switch Panel as additional add-ons to the system. All these can be powered using the USB ports on the side of the Yoke. Future additions may require a bit more juice, which is why the Yoke has a port for a power adapter, so that it can be uses as a powered USB hub. They clearly state that current Saitek hardware can all be powered from the existing ports. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 10, 201313 yr Ray I have that yoke and it is powered I had to buy the power supply from saitek so I humbly disagree, its a crap shoot without the power its not the way to go put some power to it and be done with it. Rich Sennett
April 10, 201313 yr Author You need to buy a powered usb hub and your problem will go away no way around it this is what you need to do. Thanks Richard. April 10, 201313 yr you are looking for a generic powered usb hub right ? you dont have the cessna pro yoke that allows you to buy a power supply - waiting for your reply I will find something for you ok hold on but let me know what yoke you have please - what is your name and where are you from so I know where it would be sent to ? you need to add your name to your all of your postings - thanks. April 10, 201313 yr They clearly state that current Saitek hardware can all be powered from the existing ports. That does not make it true! And I have experience to back that up. I attempted to power a Saitek yoke and power the Saitek Multipanel from the a USB port on the yoke and had dropouts that killed the Multipanel when in flight. To resolve the issue I even added the Saitek external power supply to power my Pro Flight Cessna Yoke and incredibly the display on the Multipanel dimmed considerably when the external power supply was in use. I wrote to Saitek customer service via their web site and got only a canned response advising the use of an external supply. I wrote them and once again advised them that I was using their very own external power supply and it made matters even worse. I documented with photos. They went silent. I now power the yoke and it's DIN connected throttle quadrant, and the Multipanel, each from different USB ports directly on my computer. I love the products, but....... I hope this members issue turns out to be Windows power management settings. What i just dont understand is that it works on my laptop. I still does this even when all my usb is diconnected from my pc except the yoke. Im so confused
April 10, 201313 yr this is an awesome hub I have one and make sure you buy it with the ac adapter this one has it, I use this for other connections as my yoke ports are all used up http://www.ebay.com/itm/CyberPower-CPH420P-External-USB-Hub-4-Port-2-0-with-AC-Adapter-Plug-N-Play-New-/300886526537?pt=US_USB_Cables_Hubs_Adapters&hash=item460e3c0a49 info link on hub http://www.pcauthorities.com/drivers/how-to-disable-power-management-on-usb-root-hub/ http://www.saitek.com/uk/supp/win7sleep.html "So Im think of getting a USB Y cable. April 10, 201313 yr Johann I would buy the power adapter for your yoke and you will be all set I know its a pain to wait but that will be your best bet and it is cheaper here you go good luck http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-Flight-Power-Adapter-PZ44UX/dp/B0050BK1RQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365634422&sr=8-1&keywords=saitek+ac+adapter Rich Sennett
