Majestic dash 8 & EZDOK - compatibility issues?

Featured Replies

Finally got the dash 8 installed this morning after Majestic's massive activation issues yesterday.

I setup my ezdok views in the VC as I always do with all my new aircraft.

Immediately, there were issues.

To start, I set the captain viewpoint right at the headrest with a clear view over the glare shield and instruments still in view.

Randomly during engine startup, the viewpoint would jump up super high or super low so I couldn't even see the runway I started on.

Secondly, during flight ezdok's random effect motion generators conflicted badly with what apparently is majestic's own flight motion effects.

Even with the ezdok motions disabled, I still got very jumpy and jerky motions from the camera in flight.

I don't know if its because of ezdok or not.

I'm going to test more tonight when I get off work, but so far I'm not really impressed or satisfied.

Hey mate....I don't own the Dash 8 yet but have experienced issues with EZdock and certain aircraft that use Hotkeyselect=2 or any other Hotkeyselect command for custom views in the aircraft .cfg file. Have a look at the camera definitions part of the aircraft.cfg and if you see an entry like Hotkeyselect=3 etc under each camera definition then comment them all out like this //Hotkeyselect=3// Aerosoft Airbus X extended needs a couple of workarounds like this to make EZCA work properly. Also to get the world cam to work properly with the AXE I had to edit the VCockpit section of the panel.cfg to get rid of one custom gauge view. I wish developers would realise that most users run EZCA these days and would stop messing with hotkeys that people have reprogrammed for all sorts of stuff lol That way the hotkeys wont interfere with your EZCA hotkeys. As for the motion effects, get back to me on that if this doesn't help as I may have to reconsider buying it if EZCA doesn't work properly with it. I make a lot of FSX videos and know the guy that done the promo for the Dash8 so I can ask him if he has any tips for EZCA and the Dash8 I love my EZCA and couldn't be without it. Cheers Doogie

Turn off DHM in EZDOK. I believe the Dash uses it's own form.

Just to say I'm running EZDOK with motion effects disabled and the Q400, and all seems fine, so the problem isn't universal, maybe there's something else involved here?

Eugene

For me turning of EZDOK's DHM fixed my aircraft jumping problem.

Eugene, keep in mind that Majestic is using an "external" flight model to accurately depict flight characteristics of the real life aircraft. Basically, DHM in EZdok relies on the FSX flight model data.  For this reason, you'll get some quirky results if trying to use DHM in EZdok.

Happens to me regardless of whether or not I have DHM enabled or disabled with EZCA

Disabling DHM fixed the issues for me.  Can you share a screenshot of your EZCA panel ("studio")?

Unfortunately I'm away from home till the end of the week now. But I had disabled the three red buttoned effects on the panel. I'm assuming this is how the DHM is disabled as in every other aircraft it completely eradicates any effects. To be honest I don't even use the effect on any of my addons.

I see.  I am able to keep all the effects enabled except DHM. There are three:  RND, DHM, and CR.

On a side note; When you get home, I'd be willing to share some settings files I configured (took several hours) for use in airliners.  Perhaps you'd like them.

AJ,

Sorry you are experiencing such issues with EZDOK which is somewhat odd.  I too have been using it from day one of development/testing and even have TrackIR integrated.  I have experienced a few snags here and there but they more or  less user induced (every time we made major changes to the aircraft).

If things don't get better maybe I can share some of my setting with you and see if that makes a difference.

Just an FYI.  I use EZDOK with TrackIR and I haven't had to turn off DHM.  All works fine my end.

Perhaps it is affecting only those that don't use TrackIR with EZDOK????

Just a  thought.

To be honest I've spent over 5 hours playing with settings and can't get the two to play nice with each other.

Not using ezdok isn't an option for me so if the two don't work together the q400 is a no go for me.

Just an FYI. I use EZDOK with TrackIR and I haven't had to turn off DHM. All works fine my end.

When I get back to my sim lab, I'll be happy to send my files over to you and see if you see a difference.
