April 22, 201313 yr Hello on the forum With the release of the Majestic Q400 there have been some people asking questions. I found some of them to be rather frequent, and decided to explain it a bit in this thread. However I hope that we can continue to ask questions about using the newly Majestic Q400, at least until their own site comes up. The release thread is a long read.. I have been on it for quite some time, and I think I have read most of it.. I even contributed with questions myself =) Sorry bout the pictures, but couldn't work out the tags today First one I think we get a lot is how to set it up. Open up FSX and the MJC control panel, make sure your favourite joystick/throttle/yoke is plugged in =) In the MJC84 control panel program go to the flight control tab.. Looks like this https://www.dropbox.com/s/3vj9043a401dsq1/Control%201.PNG - > This link bugs up on every edit if it doesnt work its probably missing %20 before the 1 If you select your settings like this, your aileron axis will function as the tiller when the speed is below 40 knots.. There after use your rudder axis.. Make sure steering is On in the cockpit (It is by default) For the throttles select the engine control tab. The throttle works in detents, the trick is to specify which input on your throttle gives you which detent https://www.dropbox.com/s/mmvcz18u3yz58z2/Engine%20c.PNG -> This link bugs up on every edit if it doesn't work its probably missing %20 before the c in the URL Here you can see what 'MAX' 'DETENT' 'IDLE' 'DISC' (max)'REVERSE' is https://www.dropbox.com/s/omb744escclit74/Powerplant.PNG So as the picture says, move your throttle lever and moniter what values becomes visible in the input field. Type this number at the function you want it to have effect in.. I would recommend that you add some null-zones. Next one I have seen is how to enable the TCAS Simply press and hold the LSK 8 (right side lowest) for 2 seconds and it will start transmitting. If you want to change how TCAS settings press the Function control key 'exp' button. after selecting LSK 8 https://www.dropbox.com/s/h1g3lycih03z1l8/Arcdu.PNG Basic startup tutorial Go trough theese steps https://www.dropbox.com/s/ibcuch75ld57eec/Overhd.PNG And after that you select the condition levers from the picture before to start&feather. Confirm with a mouseover! When you head the click, (switch 5 moving back in posistion) start the procedure for next engine. I hope that we can grow this FAQ.. so submit questions or answers, and I will add them (with credit) to this post.. Happy flying to add: There is NO function to select c&d but you can set everything to cold and dark in the Q400, and then save the flight and make it default if you want cold & dark Contribution from FSXman vc10man, on 21 Apr 2013 - 8:47 PM, said: Will ask again as I don't seem to have found a solution, so if anyone has an answer, grateful. How does one steer this thing apart from that tiller which is kinda awkward to steer that and use a joystick? Is there a way to link that tiller to a joystick, as I have been using for so long on other aircraft, even on the NGX? I use the MS FFb2. Thanks I have a joystick to my left that is dedicated for steering tiller. I set it to "spoilers" in FSUIPC, then go into the Majestic control panel, click on the "spoilers" for steering tiller, and set it up per the instructions. My tiller works perfectly. Had to enter the ICAO code in the nav part to the nearest wpt.. but I would assume there is another way of selecting the runway for depart in the fpl menu page. Manual says nothing.. If your airport doesn't have a SID, then the selection of a SID won't be in the "Menu>Departure" page, when you select it while you are on the Flightplan page. It seems that if you want to takeoff without using the available SIDs, then just put your airport at the top line of your flightplan and don't go into the Menu>Departure page. crosswind, on 20 Apr 2013 - 9:52 PM, said: The 2nd option (Ailerons+Mouse) under the "Steering Control Mode" will link the nose wheel steering to your yoke or joystick. This way the NWS is centered before takeoff, once over 40 knots the tiller does not have any input effect and rudder input is now required to maintain the centerline during takeoff. I found the best option for me, since I use a dedicated joystick for the steering tiller, is to connect it to the "spoilers" in FSUIPC, then go into the Majestic control panel and set the steering tiller up as "spoilers" per the instructions in the manual.

This does look very cool, however, I keep getting an error when I sign up. I says to email [email protected] and then I get a bounceback 550 error, Mailbox does not exist.... What is the tiller? Ground steering. The tiller controls the lateral movement of the nose-wheel below 40kts. Most larger aircraft have a tiller system installed and ruder control is only used above a certain speed. You can control the tiller on the Majestic dash 8 via the mouse in the VC (tiller is on the left side of the captains seat) or by mapping a joystick axis to the "spoiler" because the Dash doesn't have a spoiler/speed-brake in the traditional sense. - Jordan Jafferjee - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | Asus X670-E Pro Prime | Gigabyte RTX4080 Eagle | 64G G.Skill Trident Z.5 DDR5-6000 | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 | 2x2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVME | NZXT H7 | Win 11 24H2 | TM Warthog Flight Stick + Throttle | Honeycomb Alpha + Bravo | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G7 | Dell U3415W
April 22, 201313 yr Ah ok! But for example in the NGX when I use the rudder in ground always activate wheel steering José Fco. April 22, 201313 yr Commercial Member Ah ok! But for example in the NGX when I use the rudder in ground always activate wheel steering NGX does not simulate the tiller (or tiller only) because it can be a bit of a limitation for a desktop simulation. If you have a registered version of FSUIPC you can map a steering tiller axis that works in the NGX, but it will also move the ruder regardless of your ground speed. - Jordan Jafferjee - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | Asus X670-E Pro Prime | Gigabyte RTX4080 Eagle | 64G G.Skill Trident Z.5 DDR5-6000 | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 | 2x2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVME | NZXT H7 | Win 11 24H2 | TM Warthog Flight Stick + Throttle | Honeycomb Alpha + Bravo | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G7 | Dell U3415W

April 22, 201313 yr Commercial Member The Q400 has two ways to control the steering wheel, both under 40 kts. 1. with rudder pedals : this controls the wheel in -8°..8° range and is mostly used at takeoff; 2. with the tiller : can turn from -70° to 70°. Since the rudder axis is used for the first steering method, it cannot be used for both, so we had to map the tiller to any other axis. We chose aileron axis (as ailerons are useless on ground) or spoiler axis (not used at all on the Q400). In any case you can always control the tiller with the mouse (clicks or wheel) but this method is the less practical. I hope my explanation was clear and the [very frequent] questions "why didn't they map the steering to rudder axis like everybody" finally get an answer.
April 27, 201412 yr 55Hi. My problem is I had steering using my joystick with left right movements to steer the plane...now nothing. I only have the Logitech Extreme Pro...but again I had steering by pushing my joystick left to right now nothing?? Please help. Thank You. Dave
