  1. In the past couple weeks I had an automated Win10 update which messed up many of my X-Plane multi display settings (I have 3-1080 displays) which were working well prior to the update. I had to redo all by settings in X-plane. I also noticed the transponder knob for the FlyjSim Q-400 does not respond on mouseover I get the indication it should work, it turns but when selecting the Transponder Lsk the numbers do not change. It will change from "Off" to "Stndby" and "Active". I turn the knob in all directions - no change from "0000". The Lsk button works and so does ID button. I have also attempted to try the fmc Rad/Nav and cannot change the transponder there either. I have not experienced any other issues with the Q-400 since the update. I also have Pilot2atc running - Transponder never did interact nor does it now - same with my Saitek Radio stack, never did interact - BUT I could set the transponder in the past.

  3. Hi All, Been a long while since I painted an aircraft but got the bug to paint up something for the Q400 and what started as "just 1" ended up with 10 paints. All the logos were converted to vector images in Illustrator and brought into Photoshop and the colors are the actual CMYK values found on many of the University's websites. A lot of information gathering went into this "little" project :-) Here's all the tails I painted up and 9 of official liveries have been packaged up and uploaded to Avsim with 1 being left out so fingers crossed, it should be in the library tomorrow-ish given it's a holiday. Enjoy! This one was a personal project and not included in the upload. If anyone is interested I'd be more than happy to share it!
  4. I usually don't touch these sorts of planes... but this was on sale recently and it's one I've wanted for some time. You'll see some wrong indications on the instrumentation because I'm still a noob, but here's a flight from KMSP to KDLH, and I shot the RNAV Ry 27. Feel free to tell me what I'm doing wrong - and is there a way to set nose wheel steering to my pedals or ailerons? Using the mouse is annoying. And the blue lights -I see this on all my P3D stuff - anyone know why they are blue? 5. I just bought Q400 Inmersion package and although a new reactivation requested has been provided the Q400 Inmersion in not present in my purchased packages. I have activated the license number and adding the serial number states it is already activated but it is not listed in VFX Central package manager so it's not working. Any help? JM
  6. With the release of Airline2Sim's excellent training videos, Prepar3D v2.3 and the latest update to the Dash-8 v1.0.11, I have remade my Checklists. DOWNLOAD CHECKLIST HERE The Checklists have been designed for anyone whose time is limited and who wants to get up in the air and back down again as realistically as possible. Safety tests and checks are essential in the real world, I just don't have the time for them in my sim any more. Using these Checklists, you should be ready to taxi within 15 minutes, with everything correctly setup and ready to go. While everyone has a different way of working, I have found that the following flow and utilities work best for me. 1. Simbrief.com or PFPX for flight planning. Save .pln and export .pdf to Dropbox 2. Download Charts from Navigraph to Dropbox 3. FS Kneeboard 2 to display Charts and flightplan on ipad (via Dropbox integration) 4. VoxATC together with Ivona Voices for ATC (the latest version of VoxATC works extremely well and the First Officer option really helps reduce your workload as Pilot Flying) Fly safe, Toby
  7. IMPORTANT NOTAM: October 15th, 2016: The Majestic Dash 8 Q400 Version of FS2Crew has been updated to Version 3.2! HOW TO GET THE UPDATE: 1. To obtain the FS2Crew update, please login to your FS2Crew account and click "Completed Orders" and re-download the Main Installer. There is no stand-alone updater. You do not need to uninstall the previous version. 2. 3rd party vendors may not have the file yet. Please give them several days to upload the file on their server. 3. Remember that the P3D V3 version has its own separate FS2Crew Config Manager which you need to use to 'enable' FS2Crew in P3D V3. 4. Remember that each supported simulator version (Microsoft/Steam FSX / Side By Side Steam FSX / Prepar 3D V2 and Prepar 3D V3) utilize their own unique FS2Crew Config Manager. When you mouse over the FS2Crew Config Manager Icon on your desktop, you can see the name of the associated simulator. CHANGE LOG: Version 3.2 1. Cabin door will no longer open early during shutdown procedure. 2. Improved "Acceleration Height" trigger if climbing at high rates of speed. Version 3.1 1. New CFG Option (LINDA - YES/NO). Select to YES if your external hardware, including SPAD NEXT, that uses LINDA to interface with the DASH 8 is causing problems with some FS2Crew callouts, such as "1000 TO GO ALT SEL", "ROTATE", "PICKING UP ICE", or calling the FA. When selected to YES, these calls will no longer play. 2. If MUTE is active, green bar will no longer display even if speech is detected. 3. If data is not being read correctly out of the Dash 8, you will receive a display warning "FAIL" on the FS2Crew Main Panel. Version 3.0 1. TA/TL fixed in button control. 2. UK Global FO voice set updated. 3. Missing Asian Mastery Battery sound. Version 2.2 1. Small issue with Asian FO voice set fixed. Version 2.1 General: 1. Support for the newly release Dash 8 Global FO Voice Pack. 5 Euro Coupon Code: Q400FO https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=eTmpbnhVJVU New General: 1. Audio system updated to avoid possible issues with Dolby 7.1 Surround Systems. (You should no longer need to set your Speakers in the Windows Control panel to 'Stereo'). 2. Additional support for the 'Pro' version of the Dash 8: FO now reads the position of the Gear Pins. 3. Ability to pause the FO audio (assign a key to: WING FOLD/UNFOLD in the FSX/P3D 'Controls' Menu). 4. Autopilot control no longer relies on stock FS variables, therefore if you have the AFCS_FSX_SYNC switch option set to 0, FS2Crew autopilot voice commands will now function. Reminder: If the autopilot ever runs away, use the command "CANCEL LAST COMMAND" to stop the autopilot. 5. Several new approach types have been added to the Brief Panel. 6. Windshield Heat and Pilot's Side Window Heat will not be turned off during the FO's After Landing flow if the temp is below 0 Celsius. New Config Options: 1. FO Selects Doors during After Landing Flow. Implemented by user request as some users want to see the Ground Speed during taxi in. 2. FO Controls Exterior Lights After Landing Flow. Implemented by user request as some users wanted the FO to control the lights after landing. Normally, at the airline we modeled, exterior lights are the Captain/PF's responsibility. 3. TCAS ON only during the 'Before Takeoff Checklist - Below the Line'. Implemented by user request for users flying using on-line ATC who don't want the transponder to come on early. Fixed: 1. Button and Voice Control Checklist items (WX TERR challenge rectified). 2. FO's Flow items (After Landing flow, collision light now goes to Red). 3. Button Control: Landing Checklist when Flaps 15 Selected in Brief. 4. FA Cabin PA will no longer play during Taxi In after an RTO. 5. Button Control: Only 2nd leg, 24 Hour Checklist will be automatically skipped over. Version 2.0 (Special Bundle Pack). 1. All current Voice Control users received a FREE upgrade to the Special Bundle Pack. 2. The biggest addition is you now have full BUTTON CONTROL for those who do not prefer VOICE CONTROL for whatever reason. 3. Brand new Captain Voices for the US, UK and EU. The US Captain's voice is a real-world airline pilot and he sounds especially good. He's new to FS2Crew. 4. The "HELP" button no longer adjust the Condition Lever when pressed. 5. For the CLIMB CHECKLIST - BELOW THE LINE, you can now simply say "BELOW THE LINE" instead of having to include the Prop Setting as well (this assumes the Prop Setting will remain unchanged). 6. You can right click the CFG button to close the CFG sub-menu. 7. IFE Cabin PA removed since you generally don't watch movies on Dash 8s (usually short legs). 8. For European users in regions that have low Transition Levels, you can now make the Transition Level callout ***after*** having completed the Descent Checklist. 9. The manual and tutorial in particular have been updated. SPECIAL BUNDLE PACK Gotchas: 1. If you own the Voice Control version, the download zip file name will still refer to VOICE. Just open up the zip file and you'll see the Special Bundle Pack installer exe. 2. The Brief Panel now has three new yellow boxes over some of the arrows. These are to signify that the RIGHT MOUSE button can be used to adjust some of the displayed values (but only when Button Control is active). Version 1.6 1. Volume Control issue fixed. 2. If running non-standard resolutions, GDI text will scale properly. 3. "SET AND CHECKED" now replaces the "SKIP" voice command to help standardize the product with NGX Reboot. 4. Config Manager for "Side By Side MS FSX /Steam" FSX installs fixed. Version 1.5 1. Video Marshaller issue with P3D V3 fixed. 2. VPilot issue with P3D V3 fixed. Version 1.4 1. Official P3D V3, Steam FSX Support and support for the newly released "Pro" version from Majestic Software. 2. Fixed bug associated with the Video Marshaller not playing. Important P3D V3 Notes: The Dash 8 does not currently 'officially' support P3D V3 due to problems with P3D V3, but we added P3D V3 support regardless due to user request. If using P3D V3, do not forget to install the P3D V3 beta update from Majestic Software. Version 1.3 1. The FO will now set the Prop Lever accurately regardless of any custom Prop Lever calibration settings you made via the Majestic Config Manager. 2. FO will now set the Flow Selector to MIN prior to takeoff in case you set it MAX during taxi. 3. Some British users had problems with "ARM" and "ON" due to their accents. Additional options for these are now "ARMED" (note the 'd') and "HONE" . 4. Ground Crew dialogues fixed during Gate Arrival should you ask for Ground Power. Version 1.2 1. PDF and on-line manual updated to clarify and correct certain voice commands. Please print out the current V1.2 PDF manual! 2. Bleeds Off Takeoffs - FIXED 3. Improved audio device handing. You should no longer have to select your headset audio device before pressing "HS" on the main FS2Crew panel. 4. Ground Crew commands and conversations - FIXED 5. FO will now only discuss ice detection to a maximum of two times per flight. Version 1.1 1. Descent Checklist if Headset selected - FIXED 2. Set Cruise Power command (both engine modes should now change to MCR instead of just one) - FIXED 3. Shut down hang if Headset selected - FIXED. (But it's still good practice to deselect the HS button prior to exiting FSX should you ever experience a hang on shutdown.) Thank you,
  8. I am learning the Majestic Q400 and I really enjoy flying it on short hops as I do not enjoy extended flights that much. Got most of the issues sorted. There is one thing that I am wondering about. When engaging the AP the plane seems to be in a constant slip with a wing low. I noticed in the Sample flight that they mention that you can should use rudder trim to trim the aircraft in order to align the slip/skid indicator and trimming a few degrees right does bring the wings level as well. My question is, is this normal behavior for the Q400. I would have thought that the AP would automatically trim the aircraft correctly.
  9. Updated October 7, 2017 Updated Shared Cockpit Airliner List Below There are many terrific aircraft in flight sim, but as far as many experienced flight simmers are concerned the two best aircraft (fidelity, realism, performance) ever developed for desktop flight simulation are the Majestic Dash 8 Q400 Professional and the Leonardo Fly the Maddog MD-80 Professional. The guys at Leonardo did things with the MD-80 back with FS2004 that nobody else did until Majestic released the Dash 8, but even the Dash was developed under FSX (and then P3D) and Leonardo did these things under FS2004! Of course both these aircraft are Shared Cockpit capable! The Maddog was ported over to FSX, meaning that there was no way it could be ported again into P3DV1/2/3, and certainly not into P3DV4. I'd communicated with Davide (owner of Leonardo Software) several times over the years about updating the Maddog, and even tried to get other developers including Aerosoft interested in purchasing the rights or working with Leonardo to re-develope the Maddog for FSX and P3D, but nobody was interested. I then opened talks with Davide about purchasing the rights to the Maddog software, but that too didn't work out. This aircraft is so terrific that several friends and I have kept FSX installed for the sole purpose of flying her and one other aircraft (MD-11), but overall it seemed that the flight sim community would loose this amazing aircraft. UPDATE: Last week it was announced that Leonardo has already begin work on re-writing the Maddog software for P3DV4! I've spoken with Davide and my primary Shared Cockpit test partner (Grant) from the Dash 8 Q400 Professional project will be helping with the new Maddog. Regarding the Dash 8 Q400... if you're not aware, Majestic changed their mind about the development timeline for making the Dash 8 compatible with P3DV4, so we'll have this, the other of the two best aircraft ever developed for desktop flight sim, back in our hanger as well! For those who haven't experienced flying either of these two STELLAR aircraft - especially in Shared Cockpit, you'll be in for a MAGNIFICENT EXPERIENCE. With that, I'm EXCITED to update the Airliner Shared Cockpit list. It's going to be a GREAT 2017/2018 for shared cockpit flying!!! Best wishes to everyone.
  10. Hi guys, I just want to report that I cannot use chaseplane in the current experimental version (0.2.74) in the Majestic Dash 8 Q 400. Stadard and Airbus X seems to work fine though. Have a nice week.
  11. Intercity opened its doors in May 2013, so we're celebrating 4 years, 555 pilots, 7900 hours, 5200 flights and 2800 forum posts. As always, a big thanks to all our dedicated pilots, past, present and future! To find out more about this established virtual airline, please visit http://www.viaintercity.com Intercity operate the PMDG J41, Majestic Q400 and Aerosoft A319/A320 on over 500 routes across Europe, tracked by our custom ACARS, so it's easy to fit flying with us around your busy lifestyle. With challenging aircraft, airports and a typical flight duration of under 90 minutes, Intercity is the airline for pilots who like to be kept busy throughout their flights!
  12. I was trying to work my way through Airline2Sim's Q400 training course, replicating it as closely as possible, so I set up the Q400 at EGNX and saved the flight. On a later date, I reloaded that save, then realized they were flying in a particular set of weather conditions, so used custom weather to replicate it as closely as possible (mainly winds at 282/8). Overwrote the save (unfortunately), then tried to tune ATIS. Within a few seconds, I got a CTD. Reloaded FSX and the save...another CTD within maybe five seconds (while it still had the "default failures loaded" banner up, and I hadn't touched a single control). Tried it again with the same result. I then reloaded the save and immediately selected weather, and set it to the default "clear skies" setting. Returned to the sim, and no CTD. Don't know if it was the specific set of weather conditions/aircraft/airport, but I was getting a consistent CTD until I changed them to a "default" set.
  13. Are there any re-painters out there willing to paint VirtualCol's Dash 8-Q400 into an Island Air Q400 that the airline has recently acquired? Here is a link to a picture of the aircraft on the airline's fleet page: https://www.islandair.com/aircraft I believe the tail number for their first Q400 is N681WP.
  14. G'day, I am currently trying to connect to my mate in the Majestic Q400, using Shared Cockpit. However, when we connect he says he sees a single bar of connection and I do not see any green bars, he can also pull switchs and move flight controls that I can see but I am not able to do any of that. This seems like there is a one way connection even though we have both port-forwarded, put the correct ports in the control panels. We tried each person as master and loaded into the same livery at the same location at airports. My mate is using FSX-SE and I am using Prepar3D if that makes any difference. Thanks.
  15. Snow and snow and more snow, from Montreal to Toronto Island. Made for a nice overcast though! And an ILS to minimums! Broke out right at 250 feet!
  16. Toronto to Thunder Bay on board Porter 234.
  17. Flight ops in and out of Toronto Island for the past couple days!
  18. Just leaving a cloudy Toronto for Chicago...
  19. Hello Avsim community I was wondering if Repainters in the Avsim community would be willing to do the reminder of the Q400 fleet? I have found and downloaded N501LX, N502LX, N508LX, and N511LX but the remainder of the fleet are not available. When I was young Aviator growing up in the mid to late 2000s I always wanted to fly on frontier's Q400s sense Frontier used the planes for their Fargo Flights. I was living in Bismarck, ND during that time and the city in 2009 was trying to recruit Frontier and I was excited because my feeling was they would use Q400s on the route. The Airline did start serving Bismarck but not intel 2012 and by then the Q400s were gone. This link goes to a video that is meant to honor Lynx Aviation and their employees. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qi4ZNOda1io It would mean a lot if the proud Repainters in the Avsim community would be willing to complete this not just me but for all the Frontier and Q400 fans out there . I understand everyone's everyday lives has to take priority as well as it should. I am in no rush so for Repainters interested in doing this take as munch time as you need. Here is the link to the MJC8 Q400 download page. http://majesticsoftware.com/mjc8q400/downloads.html To acquire the paintkit for this Aircraft just click on Repaints, scroll all the way down and click on Paintkit to download it. Interesting thing to know is that once you do the first logo the rest should come some what easier because all you would have to do is change the logo on the tail and renumber the planes, N503LX, to N504LX, to N505LX, ETC. Thank you all for the Opportunity to request repaints and may you all have Happy Flying.
  20. Frontier Airlines Virtual is beginning operations Monday May 9, 2016. 21. Bluestar Airways was founded in June 2015. We are a virtual Airline with no reference to an existing company. Any matches are purely random. Our goal is to simulate as realistic as possible the operation and process of an airline. We use a pilot software (cACARS, kACARS, xACARS) that sends all relevant data live to our flight dispatch center. With modern aircrafts of the type Airbus 319/320/321, Boeing 737NG (738) and Bombardier Dash Q400 we start from our main hubs Berlin EDDB, Dublin EIDW and Stuttgart EDDS to numerous destinations in Europe. Our home base is the airport of Berlin-Brandenburg. Until the real opening of the airport of BER, we start from the old airport of Schoenefeld. Some highlights of our Flight Dispatch Center, bookable flights, depending on pilot location aircraft maintenance simulation rank system depending on different aircraft types live flight traffic with ACARS (xACARS, FSACARS, FSPax, FSFK) optional automatic flight assignment with individual settings bookable charter flights with own routing economic cost/expense simulation and much more We also offer a lot of opportunities for enthusiasts that like to support us and be part of the management board. Come join us and send us your application today! We support german and english pilots. flybluestar.com | Bluestar Airways
  22. I need help adding Flytampa's Kai Tak (VHHX) to Aerosoft's Airbus A318,319,320,321 FMC's. I am on Prepar3D v3.2 and using latest Navigraph Airac Cycle 1604. I have search information over internet, Flytampa and Aerosoft forums with no avail . Is it also possible do add VHHX to the Q400, Pro version, FMC. Thought I have read something that their nav data is hard coded and impossible to edit? Cheers, AK PS: I was able to add it to Pro ATC X though, and last I recall, the way I do it, was working over P3D v2.something. Still untested over v3.x
  23. Hi! I've just started a q400 project. Is it anyone else doing this who would like to share some experiences? I will soon be up an running with a webpage for the project.
  24. Hello, I recently have problems with my Q400 in FSX-SE and I do not remember what I might have changed. Problem: When I load the Q400 (after loading the C172) the systems start to initialize but there remain 3 failures: PFD: ATT-fail, HDG-fail, IVSI-fail, "Aligning" forever MFD: Oil temperature out of range (something like minus 2 billion degrees) FMS: AHRS input fail Btw, the CoPilot's Display is fine. But, when I load an older saved flight, the Q400 works as expected. Things I have tried: Multiple Reinstallation of 1.016, 1.017RC2 and 1.018beta In Control Panel, change to Multimedia Timer and disable FDE2FSX-sync My next step would be to reinstall FSX, but it's a lot of work. Any advice would be appreciated.
  25. I am looking at the Q400 and was wondering what throttle quadrant controls are needed? Can I fly it with just throttle and power, or do I need a mixture control also? Should I have six controllers or will three suffice? How difficult is it to fly/manage from the first officer's position? I have the controllers, my issue is set up in that they will not bolt to my desk on the right-hand side. I would have to fly as first officer or try to rig up a desk-top mount for the controllers. (Saiteks) Thanks in advance. -david-
