Fs global real weather and Opus

I haven't received any refund e-mail - where did you send it to?

Time-limited the demo is a good idea, I'll consider this for the next update :).

Bernd

That would be great!

Personally I seldom even bother to download and try a trial version of a software unless it's fully working but will expire after X time. Trying out a software full of limitations is of no interest to me.

That should've worked. However, you can also send me a PM on this forum including your order number, full name and the reason why you want a refund.

Thanks,

Bernd

I have AS2012, tried OPUS and this weekend I tried the FSGRW demo. I must say that initially I really liked the latter.

I made two flights with FSGRW and the NGX and on both occassions I had the dreaded S-turns that I do not have with AS2012.

I haven't read anybody else here having this problem.

Anybody tried the PMDG planes in combination with FSGRW?

I love FSGRW! It's, hands down, the best best weather engine for MSFS! The local weather effects are simply amazing! I am really looking forward to seeing more of these being implemented in future updates.

Wind shifts are a thing of the past, my MD-11 is finally super stable! But occasionally, I get these S-turns, that you described, in the NGX too. Not on every flight. And no problems at all with the AAX, the MD-11, the LSH Maddog or the PMDG 747. Only the NGX is struggling to stay on the magenta line from time to time...

Thanks Michael,

I thought I´d give it another try but lost my last point when FSX crashed while injecting the weather.....

This is the first I have heard of this program and I must say what I have read impresses me. As 90% of my flights are airline flights Opus didn't seem to be for me.

Just a question, how far back in time can we load historical weather data?

Yeah, these local weather effects are simply amazing. I can't belive no one else has done something like this along time ago, truly revolutionary technology for FSX and takes the sim to a new level. B)

Thanks alot Bernd.

I had S turns with the ngx once using fsgrw. I had a strong tail wind and it I thought it could be something regarding the turbulence. so I turned it off in fsx (weather settings tab) and from then on, had no more S turns...

Thanks :). You can expect plenty of local weather effects in the near future, I have them all on my list and some already finished, however, I'm quite busy with the next update, so they have to wait until Build 4 has been released :).

Bernd

I've been using Opus for quite some time now and have been and still am very happy with it but these local weather effects admittedly sound interesting.

Hope there will be another implementation of the trial mode in a near future where you'll be able to fully try the product the way it's meant to be used.

As I understood it the turbulence effects using FSGRW are very good. Don't you loose some of that by disabling the turbulence effect in FSX or does FSGRW come with its own built-in turbulence effects in a similar way it comes with these local weather effects at some airports?

Just disabled it for that particular flight during the cruise phase... After the winds got calmer I turned it on again. :)

:D

Ok, but does that mean there's in fact a problem flying the NGX in windy conditions with turbulence enabled? Because I never had any such problems using Opus and that is even with FSX turbulence enabled.

Guess I should give this FSGRW a go myself but it does bother me I won't be able to use continuously updated weather throughout my flight the way the current trial mode works.

Is there any official (or unofficial ;)) refund policy if I would buy it and don't like it? Very tempted to give it a go but I do have some problems persuading myself into buying yet another weather engine already having 3 of them :O

Those S turns are known back since active sky evolution when using aircrafts like the pmdg ones... very sensitive to turbulence.

The wind that created my s turns were above 100 knots

Yes I know those S turns were a major issue in the past but I think they are no longer present in the current version of AS and I haven't seen any such problems in Opus and I have lots of hours in the NGX using Opus.

Well, good to know it was probably a rare event.

Maximus...you might want to wait until the next update comes out. Right now FSGRW's auto updates are not working porperly (my weather tends to be static and does not automatically update on its own). You can manually update of course.

Another issue to consider is that the weather data it's using seems to always be at least an hour or more old.

The only reason to NOT use Opus is IF you want turbulence in your weather which will effect your plane (which opus does not provide). It's the only reason I've stopped using Opus for now. Flying without any turbulence, especially light turb, is just not realistic in my neck of the woods.

FSGRW has the turb, but its also got a few issues right now which hopefully Bernd will be able to get figured out soon.
