Having said that, it would be interesting to see how REX's weather engine would have handled todays weather at EGFF. If anyone likes to give it a try, this was the METAR in effect in my landing shots: EGFF 060812Z 29103KT 1500 OVC002 13/13 Q1030It would be nice to compare apples to apples (FYI: my screenshots had "weather influenced textures" from REX) Jarkko Puustinen (FSX live streamer, YouTuber) http://www.twitch.tv/virtualfreightdog http://www.youtube.com/user/VirtualFreightDog
July 6, 201312 yr I am more than happy to go shot for shot with you Excellent! July 6, 201312 yr As promised, here are the wind and temperature data for the cruise part of the flight. I have included 3 pre-flight weather sources so you can see how much difference there is between different algorithms for predicting winds (only RR forecasted temperature). July 6, 201312 yr Maximus...you might want to wait until the next update comes out. Right now FSGRW's auto updates are not working porperly (my weather tends to be static and does not automatically update on its own). You can manually update of course. Another issue to consider is that the weather data it's using seems to always be at least an hour or more old. The only reason to NOT use Opus is IF you want turbulence in your weather which will effect your plane (which opus does not provide). It's the only reason I've stopped using Opus for now. Flying without any turbulence, especially light turb, is just not realistic in my neck of the woods. FSGRW has the turb, but its also got a few issues right now which hopefully Bernd will be able to get figured out soon. bump aircraft option is perfectly fine for turbulence in opus. it's only available with the cameras turned on though. if you also want the aircraft moving around more and the vsi needle bouncing around, enable the turbulence effects in fsx too. If there is turbulence real world you will get it. I may be a tad biased since I work for REX but none of the afore mentioned are going to give you water and clouds that look this good period! Sorry, But tell me I am wrong and show me the shots. I am more than happy to go shot for shot with you if you think your weather software is better than this. Yes they will. Because they are using your water and clouds  Robert Yunque PilotEdge Ratings = CAT-11 (2016-09-13) I-11 (2016-10-23) V-3 (2016-08-01)
July 6, 201312 yr Seems like FSGRW depicts low overcast conditions just as good as Opus does. To be honest, I have managed to get same low lever overcast from FSGRW, Opus and AS2012. You just have to tweak as per the manual. It's always great fun flying the real low ones! I noticed from my screenshots, that I forgot to set my heading bug for a possible go-around (even though I was expecting one). Also I don't remember if ATC cleared me to land or not. Talk about tunnel vision The aircraft I flew (E145) doesn't have auto throttle, so approaches in low weather are "semi" challenging for a one man crew (even with autopilot). Thanks for the screenshots NP, my pleasure! Jarkko Puustinen (FSX live streamer, YouTuber) http://www.twitch.tv/virtualfreightdog http://www.youtube.com/user/VirtualFreightDog
July 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member jpuustinen, Sorry my friend I was informed by Tom an Avsim staff member that I will not be allowed to post my screenshots if they show REX textures and weather. If you would like to continue this conversation, I would be more than happy to do that or if anyone needs any help setting up REX to perform properly we can continue this on the REX Facebook page or on my personal FB page Link = FSX - Flight Sim Addict Just search on FB you will find it. Thanks Gents!

July 14, 201312 yr The new release contains bug fixes, and several product enhancements. Details at the developer's web site: http://www.fly2pilots.com Hope he puts up a changelog. I was waiting for new weather effects but could not see any new effects added as promised. Im certain they are there but would be nice to see them on the list so I now where they are...
July 16, 201312 yr Man... I had one of my best flights, immersion wise, using the latest fsgrw! It was Sunday, but I'm still smiling about it! 1400 ft overcast at departure, where I could see the clouds layer while standing on the airfield. A soon as I took off, the clouds kept exactly where they were, passed thru it until getting clear sky and there wasn't absolutely a single could popping. I mean, it was THAT great! I never experienced it using AS2012 or opus... never. Anytime I used one of these last two, the clouds would pop and/or shift when climbing from the runway. At the arrival of was even better! I knew that I should get very low ceiling and fog. A very thick and low fog, as I was looking at the window and that's what I was seeing! lol So, in the fsx, when doing downwing, base and turning final on the ils approach, what did I see? A very thick and low (visibility was 200ft) layer of fog! Not huge storm clouds completely out of the context, no clouds popping in the last minute, no wind shifts... I started to get bits of clouds as I was descending to the runway, entered the fog as just saw the runway below 200 ft! :-) CAT II ils with minimums at 100 ft at the particular runway where I landed. Awesome stuff this guys from FS Global! I feel that this guys aren't getting the praise and publicity they should have... everyone got in the opusfsx wagon and having both, I feel that the experience is so much better using FSGRW than other weather software... July 16, 201312 yr Thanks for sharing your great experience  I know how good you feel when you make one of those flights that you will clearly remember several days after you made it.
July 16, 201312 yr I purchased FSGRW recently and enjoy it a lot. Slightly off topic, but can anyone explain how to set up the autostart feature in this program? It mentions a command line, but I don't know where or how to proceed from there. Curt Branch
July 17, 201312 yr Did you have a look in the documentation, I think there was an example in there as far as I can recall. Not in front of the computer now so this is from my memory but basically you simply add parameters to the end of the shortcut that launches FSGRW by opening the properties of the shortcut and then add the parameters you want. A list of parameters that can be used will for sure be in the documentation but out of my head I remember FSX for the version of flight simulator, dynamic for type of weather update mode etc. Give it a try and let me know if you need more help and if so I'll go into more detail when I'm in front of my computer.
