May 1, 201313 yr I am for sure staying with DX10. With airports like Vancouver by FSDT FSX has just gone better and better. These new patches for DX10 is so good that performance is so smooth. I only missing some ENB bloom as i have undocked screens over 3monitors Michael Moe Michael Moe
May 1, 201313 yr Hi Michael! SweetFX will completely replace ENB: It does adjust the brightness, and bloom, just as ENB does, but there's so much more you could play with it for days! Here are two SweetFX_setting.txt files to try. When you make a change - do it in windowed mode, save it, then switch to full screen: if you don't like it, switch back to windowed, and do it again! It's that simple. These and these pics are quite subdued, but one can make the colors as bright as one wants. They're best viewed as "Original". i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
May 1, 201313 yr Guys - which version of SweetFX are you using? At the time of switching to DX10 I had a perfect setup for ENB but as you know it doesn't work in DX10. Although I download (at the time) what I thought was the latest version of SweetFX it always crashes on me for some reason. I had a similar issue with ENB until I found a stable version. I know I'm being lazy and could go on the search but if you can point me in the direction of the version you are using I'd love to give it another try.
May 1, 201313 yr It's ok - you can be lazy if you like! I'll help you - it's in the post - #4, two or three above.. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

Hi Poul I have FSX in window mode because i have the PFD/ND on a second monitor and a FMC on a third. Will SweetFX be able to deal with this ? You know ENB does not Thanks Michael moe

I have used the second set of settings you linked and tweaked it just a little by adjusting HDRPower to 1.15 to compensate for differences in monitor settings etc. Bri EDIT: Just a thought regarding monitor settings and how to set them up, when I was messing with FXAA I created a monitor set-up guide and thought Id share the link for anyone that's interested. (the first section deals with monitor set up after that it rambles on about FXAA.) Setting up the monitor correctly applies to SweetFX too IMO. Hope someone finds it useful. https://skydrive.live.com/embed?cid=5D9E788DD9BB64D7&resid=5D9E788DD9BB64D7%21167&authkey=AHAgcgIpSccpep8

May 6, 201313 yr @Michael Moe Your post was split off from another post as it was off-topic from the post you had originally posted at (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/406576-dipping-a-toe-into-dx10/). You know ENB does not Thanks Michael moe I don't see why not, Michael: it thinks it's a part of FSX, being in the root folder. ENB series is a whole different cucumber, though, and it was (for me) never reliable enough to warrant working with it the way we have with SweetFX. The effects that this super little addon can do are just nothing short of amazing! It has made a whole new sim! May 11, 201313 yr Author Thanks Poul But i just installed the sweetfx 1.4 to E/FSX and i tried both the files and changed the sweetfxsettings.txt and change the parametres but i seem to get a bluelike cockpit and no Bloom effects i think. This is NOT ENB bloom :-) . Am i doing something wrong? Michael Moe
May 11, 201313 yr Am i doing something wrong? I don't know, Michael!! One can turn off any or all of the settings at the top of the settings page, and so the best way to proceed would be for you to disable all of them first, and then enable them one at a time if you want to find out what each individual function will do - at least that was my method of finding out. The default settings will be wrong for most people, I suspect, just as when looking at twenty televisions in a TV store - all monitors/displays a slightly different. This enables Bloom:- It must be a "1" to get any Bloom. #define USE_BLOOM 1 // [0 or 1] Bloom : Makes bright lights bleed their light into their surroundings (relatively high performance cost) Making it a "0" will disable it. Then you need to set how much Bloom:- #define BloomPower 1.000 // [0.000 to 8.000] Strength of the bloom Now - define how wide the "Glow" or "Shine" is:- #define BloomWidth 0.09 //[0.0000 to 1.0000] Width of the bloom ..and the last one is the point where the white surface begins to glow... #define BloomThreshold 25.25 // [0.00 to 50.00] Threshold for what is a bright light (that causes bloom) and what isn't. Try it this way and then come back here. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
