Lights issue

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'v bin using DX10 for a while now but still having issue's with lights on FTX's only. I thought it was still an issue, but reading a latest topic, Jim "Firehawk44" said that it is all fixed, I restored the HLSL file and reapplied the fix and it actually fixed my issue with UTX's lights where it was constantly flashing, but it didn't fix FTX's lights. I noticed when on a certain camera view it's fine but when I start panning the other way, lights starts flashing.

Just to make it clear, here is a short clip of UTX+FTX with lights on, notice UTX lights vs FTX's and also like mentioned when I am at that certain view(0:21-0:30), its perfectly fine, but when I start to pan, FTX's lights starts flashing; also the one's at a distance are fine as well.

as far as i remember there is no fix yet for ftx 3d-lightpoles, but this will soon change with the new 3d-lights for ftx-global (don´t know if it will work with the regions products though)

There are still many compatibility issues with DX10 (we have a compatibility post pinned at the top of this forum) but Steve has fixed most of them and is working on more to make them all compatible. I never fly at night as night lighting has always been a major sore in FSX.  If you are going to fly at night, you can simple disable DX10, restart FSX, and fly your night flightplan in DX9.  During the day, you can switch to DX10.

Best regards,

Jim

Hi all; Some good news for those salivating over DX10!

I'm taking a small liberty with Steve's DX10Fixer email (yesterday) to me with the latest version: I don't think he'll have any objection to my posting it: (I hope!)

"There is a new one off global experimental Nav Lights fix which seems to so far fix everything.  Street lights don't flash or go off with aircraft lights.  It seems to fix all aircraft that use aircraft.cfg for lights  and FSX SDK aircraft with embedded lights.  I have one legacy 2004 aircraft where 2 embedded lights don't work properly.

There is  a small fix for the rain shader - the incoming lighting was in bgr format not the normal rgb that I expected and so I had red snow at dawn and blue snow at dusk - I have sorted it out."

I didn't think he would be able to fix that street light issue, but perhaps it is possible!! I have Orbx's street lights for the PNW, and they certainly were a problem, as with the individual lights at ground level. I will test this today and will post back later.....

All the Best,

Good news for sure PJ!  DX10 Preview w/o Steve's fixes was broken for sure with the flickering runways and you could only see the taxiway directions from an overhead view (can't remember all the other issues but the flickering runways/taxiways was reason alone not to use DX10 Preview).  He has fixed a lot more than I thought possible.  I would be amazed if anyone can fix the buggy lighting issues within FSX in DX9 or DX10.

Best regards,

Jim

Just spent a couple of hours with the 2.26 version, and tested the Orbx street lights around Fall City - Renton - Auburn area - I would say that Steve has completely fixed the global lights "blinking" on and off issue. Also the FSDT, Flightbeam and LatinVFR SOCAL airports are fine too.

Wow that IS great news! And good to hear the DX10 'ball'is still rolling.

Thanks for the update and to Steve in particular!

Steve's work is amazing. Looking forward to the release.

Quick question, is this a just shader mod like the previous versions or something that runs in the background like Addon ConverterX, or a combination of the two?

Dave Garwood.

Hello, Dave!

No - the DX10 Scenery Fixer is an application, similar to Addon ConverterX, with a proper (msi) installer, a comprehensive manual, Control Panel and Toolbox. Steve is now adding other functions that I didn't expect - like the cockpit shadowing for aircraft that don't have any.

Thanks for posting those shots Paul, looking forward for this release! are you guys testing it now or is there still work needed to be done with more testing ?

I didn't expect the shadowing - or the bloom, so Steve has a few tricks to add, perhaps!
