Suggestion to Airport developers

Featured Replies

Folks,
I have an idea for all airport developers.

Some of us want relaism down to the really minor details. Me, like, i would imagine many others, want to park up at the right terminal...

SO, why not, when you taxi in and request permission to taxi to the gate, can't we have options for, for example "Terminal 1/Terminal 2/ Terminal 3" ?

I know some dont use ATC, but i figure for those who do, and those who rely on it for airport services, it may be usefull ?

If this topic has been discussed/ is stupid/ is irrelevent becuase some developers use this, then i request for this thread to be deleted.

Thank You

Doesn't GSX already do something similar?

FSX use the right name in EHAM.

The ATC say KLM 112 taxi to C23 ,and thats in real life to,it's mean going to the C terminal gate 23.

They don't use the word "Terminal"

Well yes, that's all very well, but you don't get to choose which gates you go to, you simply select the option "Request taxi permission to the gate", whereas I think it should be "Request permission to taxi to C Gates/Terminal c"

Doesn't GSX already do something similar?

I don't know, does it?

The data displayed in the ATC window isn't really configurable from what I understand. It just lists the available gates/parking ramps at the airport you are associating with. These gates/ramps cannot be custom named to my knowledge.

Blast, that's a shame :(

Hi Speedbird

I dont think your request is stupid and in fact back when I flew the big iron I would have loved this feature, but what I would say is that I cannot fathom how long the list would be if you were able to put this into action. My guess is that the list would be many, many pages long.

Well it doesn't have to be specific gates as such, For instanance, with my UK2000 Heathrow, they could have

"Request taxi to Terminal 1

Request taxi to Terminal 2

Request taxi to Terminal 3

Request taxi to Terminal 4

Request taxi to Terminal 5

Request taxi to Cargo parking

Request taxi to South Parking

Request taxi to West Parking

Request taxi to North parking"

I mean, the list of "nearest Airports" would be longer I think! ^_^

Fly Online and you can request pretty much anything - if ATC grants you your wish is a completely different story however...

If you request taxi to Terminal 1 and your passengers are on terminal 3,i think you have a big problem.

I'm trying to understand why you deem it the responsibility of an airport designer to go in and hack the default ATC programming. It wouldn't be a trivial task, no matter how much relaism (sic) you desire.

Maybe a better course to satiate your desires for detail to the last inch would be to download and read the tutorial written by David Marshall (RIP) for "VIP parking". This would allow you to set up a designated spot for you and your plane at most any airport. Don't worry, editing airport files can be fun...

GSX does do this but not through ATC. GSX gives you all available gates at all terminals. From an ATC perspective Radar Contact give you the option to pick a gate and when you arrive it will tell you to taxi to what ever gate you picked in the menu.
