KLAS - GLITTER GULCH

KLAS - GLITTER GULCH  is the first scenery package in a series that will accurately model most of the airports in the Las Vegas Southern Nevada area.

This scenery pack includes faithful reproductions of the following airports:

  • KLAS - McCarran International Airport
  • KHND - Henderson Executive Airport

In addition to these airports, the scenery also includes several of the landmark Hotels and casinos nearby the airport.  More hotels will be added in the next few weeks as free updates to this package.

KLAS - GLITTER GULCH is designed from the ground up to support all of the new features in X-Plane 10,  a.  A future  add-on scenery package will flesh out the entire area.   As a minimum, it will include:

  • KVGT - North Las Vegas Airport
  • KBVU - Boulder City Municipal Airport
  • KLSV - Nellis AFB
  • KINS - Creech AFB
  • KTNX - Tonopah Test Airfield (Initial home of the F-117 Stealth Fighter)
  • KXTA - Area 51 Groom Lake Test Facility (If you don’t know what this is.....           I CAN’T TELL YOU ! )   and one or two other surprises.
So, whether you are an old pro, or have just recently “fledged”,  KLAS - GLITTER GULCH has something to offer to any X-Plane pilot.  Take a few minutes to explore the area and see what KLAS - GLITTER GULCH has to offer YOU.

I just bought it and ran it....  :O pretty damn impressive for $20, it looks amazing on my system and runs great.  Las Vegas looks awesome day or night.

Nice! Vegas is one of my favorite airports.

Now all I need is a Saab to fly out of there...... :)

Not bad, but I could really see a potential problem here!! This package appears to include the airport, and the hotels up to the MGM Grand, and then the Stratosphere. All the hotels in between are not included (At least from the looks of it from the available screenshots.)  What happens if someone releases a complete Las Vegas scenery minus the airport? Obviously most would want the more complete scenery, but also the detailed airport scenery. It would seem to me this would cause a conflict between this scenery and the more complete one. As I say it may never happen if no additional scenery is offered, but the potential for a conflict is there if there were..

Thanks

Tom

Finally...one of my favourite places is released! I highly recommend you use the Simheaven photo scenery with this. But it would be great if somone could release a highres version of the photoscenery.

With the Simheaven photoscenery for the surrounding area it could be pretty impressive.

Looks Great,Thanks for info.

screenshots and ground textures remind me of FS5 style Las Vegas, far from TruScenery quality or compared to latest Flightbeam or FlyTampa fsx scenery addons. I'll save my 20$ for better quality.

it's made by one man called Tom Curtis....not a team of devs.  I have no skill to create something like this, do you?  :P

what a "plausible" argument.

I don't like Ford automobiles, do I need the skills to build one before I may dislike them?

you don't like fsx, can you program another flightsim?

the texture quality is just not of the high standards compared to TruScenery, Wilmington and some others, even in the xplane market.

FlightBeam is a single developer. this is the quality we would need in xplane:

You are right and you are wrong. He works differently than most other developers. TruScenery and so on only focus on the airport, nothing else. He works with the scenery. Yes his airports are far from the high standard of TrueScenery or even Aerosoft, but he adds Landmarks, where necessary.

If you know his Canadian Rockies, Final Frontier or San Francisco Sceneries you know what to expect.

The product is Pretty good for what it does. Its certainly a major step over the default Las Vegas and looks pretty good to me. The fact that he does this on his own is pretty impressive. I have his other stuff and know what to expect. It not Truscenery, but it is still very good IMO.

Here are some quick shots. I flew to Area 51, but I cant tell you what's there. Its Top Secret!

Awesome the way the airport lighting illuminates the aircraft at night.

Is that a feature that's inherent in XP10 at all airports?

nice pics :clapping:  :drinks:

It depends on the airport. If the airport was generated for X-Plane 9 it had to use LIT textures, but there use is discouraged for X-Plane 10 in favor of the HDR system, where you simply place the light sources and X-Plane 10 does the rest, so every moving aircraft is lit correctly and gets its own shadows. I wouldn't know any new airport that wouldn't use the new, much simpler and natural model.
