Flight one ATR-72 ?

Featured Replies

Just wondering...Can anyone estimate how it will run on my PC? I want to buy it, but I don't want to buy something that my computer can't run efficiently. I own the PMDG 737NG, and it runs pretty decent with the 2d panel only. I'm not a huge VC flyer, I just like the 2d panel to simulate aircraft systems...etc.Here are my specs:P4 2.4 Ghz512 DDRWindows XP HomeGeforce 440 MX 64 mb60 gb HDI can't look at my FS settings right now, because I'm at school.

Bottom ine: it will run at least as good (if not better) than your 2D PMDG.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

It really rocks! Very realistic dynamics, systems and features. It really is as real as gets. No complains by me, even the FPS is a lot better than I expected.

I strained it with the high quality settings in the VC on my rig, so it is at least on par with PMDG at max settings, the OPTIONAL setings make this useable for most flight simmers with less computing power. This plane is incredible, this ATR is a class all by itself. This had the help of ATR and it shows big time. There are very few that make me say WOW and this is certainly one! Run don't walk to purchase this amazing simulation.. Best Wishes,
Randy J. Smith
http://www.rawbw.com/~bdoolin/shinault/southparkcartmad.gif
I WANT MY 747!
Caution! What is the max speed of the ATR? It doesn't go much above 200 knots, right?

cruise speed is around 260 kts.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2

In all my years of flying, I realized that it is rarely about the speed, just how far you need to go!I got back the 120nm from Block Island to KCDW in my Dakota in 45 minutes one day this summer (good tail wind). My mother got back from Bermuda to New York in the same time some years before.Of course, she was on Concorde!Funny though, we all love to fly, but we like to get it over with quickly. Either that, or we like to only go long distances.Food for thought.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg

I find that when switching to an outside view like spot or tower, the aircraft textures take a long time to load vs my other add-ons like PMDG

I downloaded it last night and took it up for a spin. It handles very very well, trims out nicely and as a result is extremely easy to hand fly. The exterior textures are slow to load on my computer (P4 2.8, TI4200, 512 DDR) - they load in sections, first 1/2 the fuse, the other half, then the wing textures.Frame rates are not AS good as I was hoping for after talking to a friend who's had the plane for a few days now, and who has a slightly less robust system than I, but are nevertheless quite acceptable for a plane of such obvious complexity. I'm more than happy to chop out some clouds and AI if I'm using a plane of this detail. So far, I'm very pleased with my purchase, though it's early. I'm looking forward to learning the systems which, by all accounts, are well modelled. Thanks Flight1! Looks like a winner to me. :DAdam

I'd highly recomend converting all those big 32 bit exterior textures to DXT3 without mips. It will greatly reduce the texture load times. I'd also recomend using the dxt3 VC textures (which can be selected in the ATR config app. They still look fine and performance is hugely improved. Also, the VC gauge update speeds can be set at medium and still are as smooth as most other VC guages I've seen...On my P4 1.8 with 768 megs of ram (pc2100 btw) and 128 meg Geforce4Ti4200 I get low teens in the VC even at fairly busy airports (although I keep the AI down pretty low - 25% usually). But flying around Manitoba (my area) I commonly see upper teens to low 20s in the VC and its extremely smooth.

Unless you are doing acrobatics :).Me sitting on long 4 hours cruisings is such so booring it don

Just returned from having the manual printed at a local print shop. Cost me $30.00 (CAD) and worth every cent. Cheaper, I think, than going out to buy a new printer cartridge for my tired old printer.Now...I'll be buried in this manual for who knows how long!Last time I did this was with DF734.Adam

...and from a painter's point of view:She's really easy to paint and looks good in flightsim! :)I have several reapaints out there already and a few more coming. Check out Flight1's download site for repaints from a bunch of great painters and here for some my repaints of this wonderful bird:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...&Go=Change+ViewIberia is at Flight1 for now but I'll upload her here too soon. From the short hops I've taken her on, she seems to fly very well...I just have to get up to speed on all the systems and esp. the FMS before I take her on some revenue flights. :-lolRegards,Steve Drahttp://img47.photobucket.com/albums/v144/S...Dra/banner1.jpg

It's without a doubt definitely the best "study sim" release since the 737NG - looking forward to really learning the plane this weekend now that all the week's school work is out of the way for me. :)The thigns that struck me right away were the fluidity of the gauges and the incredible flight model - it really *feels* right. Obviously, I've never flown a real ATR, but this is what I'd think it should feel like hehe.Looking forward to the SID/STAR editor that Hans is going to release for it.You guys did good Lou! :D ;)
