Beta testers opinion on using EZCA

Featured Replies

Very cool and thanks for the vids!  Yeah it looks like this is a simpler option than hitting 'A' multiple times to cycle through views.

Yeh its much much faster - what would be really cool is to get a 2nd keyboard or just an extra NUM pad and just assign views to that - not sure how to integrate that with FSX but with FSUIPC and LINDA im sure its possible

Probably, but I'm kind of tired hitting 'A' to cycle through multiple views to get there.  I might wait till she's out to make the purchase.  I don't know yet.

I normally right click and select the overhead as I hate cycling through the views as well. Don't forget, since EZCA is Flight1, you can always buy now and get a refund within 30 days if you don't like it. Personally, I think $35 is a tad expensive for it, especially since PMDG usually does such a good job with the views on the default FSX viewing system.

Here is the head movement on landing - just to complete the set - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cmYZRg1YNs

Honestly - once you get used to it and get it setup its so much better than the default view system. You know exactly which button will take you to which view - it pans there nicely and you never have to right click the screen and bring up a menu (which just kills the realism for me) it is pricey - but for a 30 day money back with Fligh1 definitely worth a try.

Well on top of the easy view switching, I'm also interested in getting free movement outside the craft.  Can you explain to me in a few words how a "walk around" is done with EZ?  Is it just a set of keys for forward/back/left/right etc or is it a little deeper?

Just a set of keys! It used the arrow keys for direction (forward/back/left/right movement), num 1 to pan left num 3 to pan right and the num+ for higher num - for lower. Its really simple!

Would you like a walkaround video? Haha :)

Oh - and whilst doing all of that you can use the mouse to move your virtual head, so move mouse up head moves up etc etc

Since I use Track IR the whole Flightsim was getting a whole new world... It's bringing immerse realfeel to the cockpit. I was against 3D Panels till I got this head tracker.

There is an alternative way - toset hotkey for every camera definition. You will be able to assign any button for every view.

No smooth transition, no acceleration effect, but it just do the job.

Wouldnt you have to buy a registered version of FSUIPC? Or does it work on the free version?

Has anyone tried FS Simtimizer? One can also use the mouse wheel to move forward and back, similar to walking around. It's free and has other useful features, such as the ability to use FSX full screen without the second monitor going black, so you can use the monitor for other things. The site is german but there is a big download button and the software is in English / German, manual included.

Actually there is possibility of setting keys via FSX default assignment. Look for "view camera x" in settings and set appropirate hotkey number.

But I'm not sure if hat switch will work. Just buttons.

Hi,

just a question about view

what about "momentum"?  you know it's that strange issue that move your point of view when aircraft turns.

it's very annoying in the MD-11 & may happen in NGX

thanks for help

That is a problem with FSX - no fix for that. However I have not noticed it as much with Ezca, but you tend to reset the view alot as you switch views quite often - so perhaps thats why

On the EZCA forums there is an external spot cam done by the developer that you can import to the exterior cameras.

It works with up, down, left, right arrow keys and page up, page down for height, in EZCA you turn on mouse look, 360 and the zoom with scroll wheel function. This gives you the ability to do a walk around and do very smooth panning shots.

This is how us FSX videographers get those nice dolly cam style pans and other complex shots that are impossible with default ezdock or the FSX view system. Its the only camera I use for exterior of the aircraft ;)
