Why are the 2d panels still in the format of old 4:3 Monitors?

Maybe I missed it somewhere it this thread but have you added "WideViewAspect=True" to your FSX.cfg?

John Sturm

Prefect here with 1920X1200 16:10.

Best.

You can see it's much "fatter'

...actually not seeing any issue at all.

Me neither. I even did a double take and measured it with an actual ruler. It shows up at 10.7cm across and 10.3cm down. Less than 5% difference. I am not sure if the screens in the real plane are actually square, anyway looks good enough for me.

The rest of the screenshot looks just as well.

Fabo, what;s the resolution you use on your FSX?

I usually fly in window, but I did make sure to try it in fullscreen as well. In fullscreen I use 1440*900 which is my monitors native resolution (it predates the 1080p HD standart)

Yes! And I'm pretty sure after watching Kyle's Beta video of the B777 that the same is happening on his machine. I'm using Windowed 1920X1200 here.

Edit!

Solved the mistery. Using Windows Mode instead of Fullscreen makes the 2D popups to retain the shape of the FSX Windows. Since using Windowed doesn't have the same ratio as FullScreen, due to the Windows Bar on the lower part of the screen, is resizes the 2d Screens for the shape.

I think there's nothing we, windowed mode users, can do about it.

I think I have heard of this fix before! Thanks, but I think it doesn't work with Windows 8. At least here it didn't work too good. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

And it's not something I can't live with either. I was just thinking it had something to do with PMDG addons, but all FSX addons are affected by this.

Hmm interesting post.  It's never bothered me before.  Actually I've never noticed it as being an issue.  Now I'll be looking at this closer in my sim, but like I said I'm not bothered so I won't even attempt a "fix".
