August 15, 201312 yr while we are on the subject of freighters are there operational differences from the pax version? are there things on the freighter equipment wise in the cockpit that are on one and not the other. Are the zones for heating and cooling the same or are they simplified for the Freighter? I know the "fs shortcuts" on the CDU will of course be different but could a pilot from a pax 777 step right into the freighter without additional training? Russell Homan
August 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member but could a pilot from a pax 777 step right into the freighter without additional training? Yes, because they are the same type. "Differences training" might be required, but that is more a sim excercise than anything to allow pilots to get familiar with the *ahem* differences. Best regards, Robin.

August 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member I worry about the wet lease of the 777 simulator... Best regards, Robin.
August 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member Qatar airways 777 flight crew swap between the freighter and pax version, they just have to make a bid for freighter routes each month. Rob Prest
August 15, 201312 yr I worry about the wet lease of the 777 simulator... Best regards, Robin. Dry lease in this sense means that whoever leases it has to supply the trainers. A wet lease means the trainers are provided by them and you just have to show up. They do have a "pilot for a day" program for those that might be interested in some real C/D level sim work.
August 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member Qatar airways 777 flight crew swap between the freighter and pax version, they just have to make a bid for freighter routes each month. Emirates operates this way as well - they get Fs, 200LRs, 300ERs, 200ERs etc all in the same month sometimes.
