Sensivity Advice For the 777

Featured Replies

Hi folk

As  we re only a week close to the release of the 777, i ve begun to search the right joystick settings for it. Currently im flying the NGX with the minimum joystick sesivity posible in order make smooth movements. i have a t.flight stick x from thrustmaster. Looking for the advices from betatesters or pmdg.

thanks and congratulations to all of the pmdg team for im sure the great product.

I pull my sliders in FSX's controller settings back to about the 1/3 setting. It's going to be different for every joystick. You don't want it to be super twitchy but at the same time it shouldn't be completely slow either.

The real 777 is actually quite responsive on the controls too (I've flown the level d simulator) - it doesn't really feel slow or heavy because of the FBW.

0 sliders on ng is just awesome, but comparing to the ngx i think i will need a little more sensivity as the aircraft is big and has FBW.

Thanks for the quick answer

If you go zero sliders for the NGX does it have full deflection?  Imma try this out but I thought zero was bad.

I'm using a Thurstmaster T-1600M with default sensitivity sliders but minimized null zones.

Because this stick uses magnetic sensors there is zero noise on the axis.

I have found this stick the best I've ever had and the best is it is really affordable too.

Hmm.  My Saitek pro rudders are REALLY sensitive around corners and braking.  It helps to use a nose cone view in EZdok to taxi, but I haven't found my sweet spot yet with my controls.  I also find with my Logitech Attack 3 joy, I'm BARELY touching the controls on final.  It's almost like I'm flying a helicopter.

Try calibrating your controller with fsuipc and fiddle with the slope curve for all the controlling surfaces of the aircraft....

Using the fsx default controls settings, I always felt the ngx, for instance, too twitchy, but with fsuipc calibration I can do those little corrections a lot better.

I've been hearing a lot about the pros of FSUIPC.  I have and use the registered version for a lot of things but never have dug deep enough to find these controls.  I find his interface very confusing.  I think I need to spend more time with it.  Thanks for the tip.  Have an up-vote.

it does, in my opinion to fly the ngx smoothly with a t-flight stick x zero sliders gives you a better space and precision. but i use almost max sensivity for the rudder with the saitek pro rudder.

I'm afraid I disagree completely with this view.  Reducing FSX control sensitivity adds lag to the flight model by slowing down control inputs.  That actually makes controlling the sim more difficult and less realistic.  It doesn't reduce sensitivity as such, just delays the effect of control inputs.

My advice would be to set all axis sensitivities to 100% and learn to control the sim with small stick or yoke movements. Only use large deflections if you really need them. Once you learn this technique, which mirrors real flight control inputs, this results in a much more realistic simulation experience.

+1 for this stick.

this is what i exactly do for the aerosoft airbus x extended be cause  i flew a full flight sim of 737 several times and i tell you the biggest diffrence on boeing is that you fly a boeing with your arm and an airbus with your wrist. because the yoke  provides you a huge amount of mouvement space which is what i want to have with my joystick. i agree that i would better buy a yoke but takes too much space on my desk :P

and thats whats made me open this topic, i was wonderin how a boeing plane with FBW would respons on my settings.

best regards

I use FSUIPC for controlling my NGX, I have a Saitek Yoke, would anyone post screens of their fsuipc sensitivity settings they find he most realistic or at least post whether Ailerons are -2 -5 etc as well as elevator/rudder please it would be appreciate. Wayne

I have the saitek x52 pro and have the +2 for the aileron / elevator and +5 for the rudder in the ngx.
