September 12, 201312 yr With ref to Jobs and Pilot wages, I just found this. Any Airbus/Boeing drivers out there? http://vorholdings.com/pilotjobs/?gclid=CI2pieW-xbkCFfLHtAodahsAOQ Thanks sir Reik Namreg
September 12, 201312 yr www.rahcontractnow.org Need I say more? It really is that bad. What's worse is that pilots are still flocking to interview at RAH knowing how bad it is there. A buddy of mine was on a 4 day trip worth about 24 hours, most of his trip was unfortunately cancelled do to bad wx. He was stuck away from his home for those 4 days. He only got paid for 6 hours. This is just one example. The same happens if there's a mx problem. The Q400 is prone to a lot of mx problems. So crews know that if it breaks there's no cancellation pay protection so they're pressured to not write it up or just plain fly with a broken airplane. At least at my airline we have pay protection. It's that bad at RAH but pilots love flying those 70 seat shiny jets at a rate that is lower than a 50 seat RJ at other airlines while their CEO is featured on the TV show called Undercover Boss and is portrayed as a saint. September 14, 201312 yr So there you go! With that statement you just prove my reasoning. There will always be pilots willing to fly for less! So the whole supply and demand theory is null and void. No, it proves you don't understand supply and demand. There is a supply of pilots willing to fly at a any given salary and a demand for them from the airlines. If there wasn't such a supply of pilots willing to fly at the lower end of the salaries range, airlines would have to pay more to get them or stop flying. Incidentally, what did you mean by "for less"? Gerry Howard

Incidentally, what did you mean by "for less"? All I was trying to say was that its other factors contributing to low pilot pay and I have listed those factors. I stand corrected...you are completely right and I'm completely wrong. I do not understand the supply and demand theory. Can we move on now? Or are we going to continue with this? And for the original question in this thread there is no pilot shortage. Reik Namreg
