  1. THANK YOU BRYAN I've been disconnected from my simulator for over a year :( however I do log in from time to time to see what's cooking. I'm very, actually extremely happy that you took the time out of your busy schedule to create a Button Edition for this great airplane. It's awesome that you listen to your faithful customers. I absolutely despise talking to my computer, I talk enough as it is Now with this button edition I'll be able to enjoy the Q just like I enjoy the NGX, Airbus and the mighty J41, with a simple press of a button. Thanks again
  2. Thanks. I'm happy with my set up now so I won't mess with it.
  3. Hi, Am I missing out on anything by not upgrading to Windows10? I'm running FSX on W7 and I'm happy. I'm just wondering. Thanks

The weight varies depending on the regulation covering your flight. At my airline one of the preflight checks is to review the FMC default settings and verify that the Standard Checked, Heavy Checked and Carry-On bags are set correctly. I haven't flown the NGX in a while, isn't there a way to change those settings?

  6. My first reaction to your post was to say that FOs are underrated in real life also. If I could count the time in which a person has walked up to me and asked; how long until the Captain lets me fly? Yada, yada, yada. Or when the captain messes up a landing and it's assumed that the FO did. It's just part of airline life. It's assumed that the captain has more experience than the FO, however that's not always the case.
  7. Don't Let Anybody Discourage You! Especially the Grammar Police up a few posts Your plan on a community college is fine. Airlines don't care what college/university you go to. As long as the institution is accredited. Your major won't matter either, so my suggestion is to get a degree in something other than aviation. If you're thinking about joining the military, please look into every branch of service. Too many people are so focused on flying that they only look at the Airforce and unfortunately neglect the Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. See which one can offer you the most for your time, dedication and service. The GI Bill is an amazing benefit.
  8. I have something similar happen to me but only with certain liveries. They worked before, now they don't initialize. I've tried everything except uninstall. Sorry, I wish I could help :(
  9. In real life I don't really worry about it that much. I do it by time. At about 30 minutes prior to arrival I do all my calculations and ask the lead FA if they need any pax assists, lav service, etc. Then I send the in-range report and at the same time send out for my ref speeds and all that good stuff. Once I get it, we both verify it, and input it. In the sim I try to do the same but my dog Fuego verifies it
  10. It really depends on the engines Phillipp. Some require more than others. Our sop at my airline requires a 2 min cool down before shutting off the engines.
  11. G550flyer, That's exactly what we do at my airline also. We hack the time right after we put the engines into idle rev. I have never ran into the 3 or (2 minute cool down B1900) before in real life, but in the FSX it happens. I'm flying all over the Dominican Republic so unless I fly into Las Americas MDSD, Punta Cana MDPC or Puerto Plata MDPP I run into the 3 minute cool down issue. I'll just have to taxi slower like Peter suggested
  12. Is there a way to modify this to 2 minutes? So that I can shut the engines sooner. Thanks
  13. I was wondering the same thing. It's a dispatchers problem, not mine
  14. 5 years in the making. Will this project make a profit? I'm buying it.
  15. I have it and it does what it says it does.
  16. Very common misconception.
  17. I agree 100% By the time an airline pilot is done with training, things like; V1 cuts, engine failures, fires, proper use of the QRH, CRM and anything else you can imagine should be ingrained in the pilots brain. There is no reason whatsoever to diagnose anything below acceleration altitude unless you have a prop overspeed or a negative autofeather. CRM is crucial.
  18. Unless the propeller doesn't feather there should be no quick action other than to keep the airplane flying. Identify, verify and then and only then perform the action of securing the failed engine.
  19. It's not uncommon to commit that mistake and that's why it's imperative to use CRM, identify, verify and then perform the action necessary. Shutting down the wrong engine can be avoided by the proper use of CRM.
  20. No FsCamp I bid out of the ATR because I don't care for it and in my opinion it's a nightmare! I didn't bid out of it because "the world's most popular turnoprop was too much for me to handle" I bid out of it because I don't agree that it's a safe airplane, especially in icing. We had 5, yes that's right five different memory items and checklists just because we flew through an ice cloud. After the Roseland accident ATR put a lot of bandaids on this aircraft and went a bit overzealous on the QRH and Memory items. If we flew in and out of ice clouds on a particular flight we would have to run those memory and checklists several times. By the time you were done with the flight you were exhausted. Why do you think American Eagle moved them all down south to Puerto Rico? Just to clear things up FsCamp this is my opinion. You're entitled to yours, but at least the FAA doesn't think that I "shouldn't be flying anything larger than a cessna" and I have a few type ratings to prove it!
  21. On top of it all the time is an understatement. I mean entering icing requires a checklist, exiting icing requires another checklist. Recovering from a stall in icing requires a different procedure than out of icing. A page long memory item for a V1 cut. The QRH isn't the best either, it leaves you hanging and if you're not careful it can lead you into more trouble. It's just a busy, finicky aircraft. I had the pleasure of flying it and I didn't like it. Put it this way, I wasn't impressed at all.
  22. It's not that it is incapable of sustaining flight but that it's a ###### to maintain flight after a V1cut or an engine flameout after V1. I never liked flying this airplane and got out of it ASAP when I was able to bid out of it.
