  1. And then Dispatch will just ball park it and add more fuel
  2. I believe that FSX has always modeled crosswinds landings poorly, especially on touchdown. One mod that fixed this for me is the ground friction mod.
  3. I've been waiting for Simair for 3 years now. Rex has really dropped the ball here. Im waiting for Air Hauler 2 and the Economic side of FSCaptain. I gave up on Simair. Rex has done a very poor customer service job on this product.
  4. Idk what's going on with Avsim. A fellow flight simer took time out of his very busy schedule just to have people knock his benchmark comparison? What a bunch of ungrateful people. People here walk around with this "chip" on their shoulders. Get over yourselves and get off your high horses! Lets help each other.
  5. Very nice pics. This is a great airplane. The sounds are incredible. Enjoy
  6. I agree with FSXtreme. Majestic seems to have found a way to get a turboprop to act like a turboprop within the confines of fsx.
  7. Interested. The EHSI is one big reason why I don't fly this airplane
  8. It has for sure. You have to understand that the J41 was released in 2009. The little Jetstream has held it's own for a while. I have them both and prefer the Q all day long but you can't knock the J41. Plus the J41 works great on some short low density regional routes.
  9. The very best thing to do is to go through the built in check ride, it's not only fun but you can actually learn a few things. Once you feel like you can read an approach chart, understand it, build it and fly it on a trainer, then you can start flying more complex airplanes.
  10. FSGRW, it's easy, it's realistic and I'm happy
  11. I absolutely love flight sim. It's my own little world. I'm into short hauls on my NGX or a short island hop on my Q or J41. I just got done flying a MDJB-MDPP flight on the J41. It's such a sense of accomplishment when you do that perfect flight. I can't get enough.
  12. Sorry man. It's a very good scenery and easy on the frames. Hopefully AES adds it so that the gates can move. GSX works great though.
  13. No I am not. I've heard about it but since I'm happy with FSX now I'm afraid to go to DX10. LOL
  14. Hi, I tested it with DX10 preview through FSX and it didn't look good. Flashing scenery and stuff. Sorry, maybe someone else can help.
  15. Yes it's a new offering. It works great on my system. I will test with DX10 a little later.
  16. Finally! This airport has been forgotten. I'm downloading it now. Hopefully a Developer will make La Romana MDLR to complete the Dominican Republic
  17. I've had it for about 3 years. I like it. it's simple and does what it's supposed to do. I mainly have it for shake effect when touching down and takeoff roll. it's adjustable and very easy to use.
  18. What about H.O.T while we're at it? Good job GSX
  19. Hi Kevin, It's hard to describe. In some cases, like for instance at rotation, I've noticed (as well as my peers) that most simulators I (we) have trained in require more force to rotate and become airborne. The same with flaring during landing, the sim feels mechanical compared to the real acft. I find that the control pressure is exaggerated. I believe the real acft is easier to fly than the sim. Simulators are great for training, procedures and are inexpensive compared to training in the acft. I have also noticed that in straight and level flight the sim is more sensitive to control inputs in the way that you can find yourself over controlling or over correcting. We brief this before training.
  20. Kevinh, I have flown various commercial airplanes as a professional pilot, I've been to numerous initial and recurrent Simulator sessions. Believe me when I tell you that even a Levele D Simulator is different than the real airplane, not by much but different at the same time. Simulators are more sensitive. Be it Frascas to full blown Level D Simulators. It's a program that is programmed by engineers to Simulate flight and system malfunctions. The control input for example that you put on the yoke at rotation in the simulator is exaggerated compared to the real aircraft, at the same time, maintaining straight in level in the simulator is more of a chore than in the real airplane because of how sensitive to touch the simulator is. Steep turns are way more sensitive in the Simulator than in real life. Crosswind landings are also unrealistic even in a Level D simulator. Ground friction is also unrealistic compared to the real aircraft. Don't ask me why but it is. Now how ever the governing entity certifies the simulator is a different story all together. I don't know what goes into it but if you can fly the simulator you can fly the real airplane. The NGX is the best 737NG simulator in the confines of FSX. It's amazing what PMDG has done with this airplane.
  21. Please remember that even full motion Level D simulators are more sensitive than the real aircraft. The simulators differ from facility to facility also, so for example, you can go to ABC FlightSafety and train on the 737-800 then for recurrent 6 months later go to XYZ FlightSafety and train on the 737-800 and have a totally different experience. The systems should work exactly the same but the feeling will be different. Simulators have "Sim-isms" they're a little crazy at times
  22. Sorry to hear that you're having those issues. I run FSGRW on FSX and have never seen anything like this. I hope you can get it fixed. Have you dropped FSGRW a visit?
  23. Well I think your comment is ignorant. Simbrief does a great job simulating Dispatch Releases in different formats, WX Briefings, Step Climbs, Etops, etc. Its pretty accurate, has good support and it's FREE. So instead of badmouthing simbrief try donating.
