September 6, 201312 yr ive tried all the tips to get this working saving as all files in notepad .wx and matching same flight number but keep getting " invalid entry" no idea what to try next kav
September 6, 201312 yr I had this problem and not really sure what I did to fix it, but I've done three flights now and this has worked. Here is my process for my last flight.Plan flight without SID-STAR with whatever software you use then export a CO Route to PMDG. I use FSC9. My last one, UAE222.rte. Copy the text of the route. Verify that route is in the proper folder, I put mine in the PMDG/FLlightpan/777 directory.I then went to SimRoute.com and generated a flight plan for AS2012 to read; I know FSC9 can likely do this, again its just my process. Enter departing airport, paste the planned route into the next section, and arrival airport. Hit generate, and then download the plan in FSX format. So UAE222 would be KDFW-OMDB.pln from this. That ends up in my WIndows downloads folder.Load AS2012 and hit flight plan, enter your route (KDFW-OMDB.pln) from the import button and process it. Once it has the information copy the winds aloft data from the departing airport to the arrival airport. Not the header of this infomation. Just from KDFW line all the way down to the OMDB line.Go to the PMDG folder in the FSX root directory and open WX folder.**If you haven't done this, then go to Control Panel, File and Folder options. Make sure known file extensions and unknown file extension are showing. If not when you change UAE222.txt to UAE222.wx it maybe UAE222.wx.txtSave the file as UAE222.wx, if you've done this right the file icon will not look like a notepad file and if clicked on Windows should tell you its a unknown file and if you want the web to find a program to open it OR select one yourself from a Windows list of programs. Then choose notepad and you'll see the file icon change, but it still will not be a standard notepad icon.Load FSX and setup flight there as needed.Once on flight deck, setup the aircraft. ADIRU, IDENT page, POS INIT, ROUTE. Enter UAE222 into CO Route. Departing runway. Thrust Limits, Takeoff Data. Then I go to LEGS, RTE DATA and enter UAE222 and EXEC, then the winds aloft load. Also if you use the search within the forum you can find some other .wx topics and people who been nice and included example flights/files with the needed .rte and .wx files for testing. Once they did this for me and others and I tested it worked. -Raven HarrisIntel i7 980X @ 4.43GHz | ASUS Rampage III | Corsair 6GB DDR3 2000MHz | 3 EVGA GTX280 | Corsair 1200 Watt | Intel 510 SSD (RAID 0)PMDG - 747-400/8iF | MD11/F | BAe J41 | 737NG 6/7/8/9 Hope ER/BBJ|777LR/FFlight1- Cessna Mustang
September 6, 201312 yr One note, you don't have to have the same file name as your flight plan. This is only for loading without entering a filename. You can put a different file name in the scratchpad and press the request LSK. Of course the naming convention and file directory placement still apply. George Morris
September 6, 201312 yr I use Active sky evolution, anyone knows if the program allows to create a similar option like AS2012 ? Jason Cardeira
September 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member Guys, Too many people are relying on trying to follow exactly what too many other people are doing, which is making this a lot more difficult that it really is. The wind feature is NOT dependent on a company route. The only thing that really matters is that the file name contains the two ICAO codes for the airports in the active route. I use Active sky evolution, anyone knows if the program allows to create a similar option like AS2012 ? Upload a flight plan file into the Flight Plan feature and look through the flight plan digest (the window with all of the weather reports) to see if it has the wind listed in the same format. I imagine that it does. Kyle Rodgers
September 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member Thanks Kyle, i'll report back Cool - yeah, definitely report back for those still on ASE. Thanks! I had it, but I upgraded and have since forgotten what it all looks like (other than that it was maroon-ish, right? haha). Kyle Rodgers
September 6, 201312 yr Author ok Thanks all for your help here. following Kyles advice about the name not needing to match other than the icao code for dep and arr. I changed the name of the file from KEDWEGLL04.wx which is the exact name of the flight loaded in the co route to KEDWEGLL.wx and its was accepted I did nothing else differently saving both as all files . was something about the 04 that prevented the fmc reading the icao codes correctly its appears kav
September 6, 201312 yr It is important to delete the .txt extension after the .wx A. R. Sotolongo Abdel Sotolongo Abella
September 6, 201312 yr I ha the invalid entry. Only thing I noticed was even though your saving KJFKEGLL.wx etc it is saving it as a txt. When y go to save I changed to all types rather then text and this worked for me Stewart Cumbers
September 6, 201312 yr Commercial Member Only thing I noticed was even though your saving KJFKEGLL.wx etc it is saving it as a txt. This is why you use the drop down and select "All Files" before typing in [FILENAME].wx. That or you just have to ensure you change it after saving. LOl Kyle, which weather source do you use now ? AS2012 Kyle Rodgers
September 6, 201312 yr Got it! to do this in ASE, first make the flight plan in PFPX, next Export to Flight Simulator X, open ASE, click on Briefing -> Change flight plan -> Import (route that you saved) -> Process > and it's done. Scroll down, and copy the winds aloft to text file and save Jason Cardeira
