September 16, 201312 yr The LDS 763 is yesterday's news. For you it is.....for myself and many others I believe I can safely say she's just as relevant today as she was when she first appeared. ...plus no OOM's or CTD's with her (for me) either.... September 16, 201312 yr I do agree that the LDS767 reflects 2006 standards which is obviously not a criticism, as that's when it was released. However.......... in my opinion, it's hand flying charatersistics (particularly on rotation and climbout) are still unmatched. It has a buoyancy and credibility that I believe even the more modern releases have not quite matched. I don't fly it, purely because I'm spoiled by the texture quality of the likes of the Majestic Q400 and PMDG 777, but if Level D updated the graphics and kept the same systems logic, FDE and even sounds, I would be breaking their door down to grab it!
September 29, 201411 yr Going back to FSX ! I have All The PMDG planes, I have the Level-D 767 and I have the wonderfull Maddog, The great Majestic D8 Q400 and my old ATR buddy. I think they are all very very good. All these planes rocket the sim to the sky, some are great in graphics and modeling aspects like PMDG and Majestic. Some look old and sometimes ugly like Maddog but they are so realistic and very challenging to fly with with ultimate flight physics The ATR is for cool domestic flight and I like it well even it looks quite old now. I'm not rich but sim is passion for me and sometimes I wonder how I'm going to eat of the rest of the month, because all my money go away in such things My faves: PMDG MD-11, Majestic Q400. ATM I struggle with the Maddog  Patrick Sourrouille Nantes 44 France
September 30, 201411 yr Well for one, a native FSX model that has no issues with the FS9 legacy menu's crashing FSX. I'd add the FMC data dump/engine double start bug in FSX Acceleration, but it does appear that this issue has actually been fixed. FS9 Legacy? Heck the Level D goes all the way back to FS2000...and I don't think the 2d panel has changed in those 14 years....It's great if you love flat vc panels, bad texturing, not round gauges etc. But I don't fly it any longer. Replaced by the NGX and the MD-11 for long hauls. Well for one, a native FSX model that has no issues with the FS9 legacy menu's crashing FSX. September 30, 201411 yr Actually, I'm not, The Level D bird goes way back to FS2000. It was originally published by Wilco as their first Pilot in Command release back in 2001. Yes, 14 years. Level D self published versions after that improving the exterior model and adding a VC as that technology evolved. But the airplane that is today the Level D is the evolved version of that first airplane. I know, I've had the plane on my hard drive in one form or another (including the famed PIC/POSKY merge) since 2001. Check out this review - the images of the panel and the tips are identical... http://www.avsim.com/pages/0301/767pic/pic.html And the bird was groundbreaking. It was the first ever, fully functioning airliner for FSX. You had to buy the stand alone 747 sim (PSS?) if you wanted this kind of fully modeled jet. I remember the first time I hit the N1 button and the big jets wound up for take off. It was one of those moments in flight sim that are really exceptiona.
September 30, 201411 yr That isn't the LevelD. It is another maker. I see the confusion. Richie Walsh
September 30, 201411 yr That isn't the LevelD. It is another maker. I see the confusion. No confusion. Ping Darrell on the Level D formum and ask him. Wilco didn't make the plane, it just distributed it. Darrell and his band of 767 pilots, who started the whole thing as a freeware project even before that, made the plane. The 2d panel is essentially unchanged in those fourteen years, as are the flying tips which most are word for word from the original PIC. Hell, it's even stated on their website... "Tracing its roots back through the 767 Pilot in Command series of releases for FS2000 and FS2002, their release for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 (A Century of Flight) contains many advancements and features. So make sure you check out the previews by clicking the links in the FMC above." So, yes, it really is at its core a 14 year old airplane that was updated to very early FSX standards with what was then a pretty good VC, then essentially abandoned except for some winglets four years ago.
