Pmdg 777 & Fsinn

Featured Replies

I dont have FS Inn, but while re-installing Windows and FSX, I came across a FSX.cfg entry that was recommended by the guide I am following during reinstall.

This entry avoids FSX from loading the default flight into memory, so FSX starts faster and memory is not wasted on a flight you are not going to fly.

[Main]

DisablePreload=1

However, maybe it messes things up for complex addons like the 777?

If you have the above entry in Your FSX.cfg...and if you have problems where you need to start the default Tryke flight first...then maybe try deleting the entry?!

This tweak usually messes things up for FSinn to load correctly   Realy, it happened to me when i tried it once. I didn't found any benefits from that tweak BTW

I've had this same issue, since installing the 777.  I've done all the checks as outlined here, but still cannot get FS-Inn to bootup without using the Trike or a basic aircraft, before trying to bootup FS-Inn from the Addons menu of FSX.  I'm thinking it's a problem with FS-Inn & not the 777, as I had absolutely no problems with FS-Inn and the PMDG 737 or any other plane, until the 777.  If there's a support staff with a pulse for FS-Inn any longer, I'm not aware of them.  If anyone here has gotten any recent help from the FS-Inn people, sure would be nice to hear about it.

Yep, I don't doubt it's FSinn that's causing the freeze. In fact, FSinn usually freezes FSX for a short time (a second or 2) when it loads up anyway.

Seems when FSX is loaded up with lots of addons, that second or 2 "FSinn loading" freeze just never recovers.

I do find it's worse when:

1: Using heavy aircraft products like PMDG in conjunction with detailed scenery like payware airports etc.

2: if you wait a while after initialization before you open FSinn.

The obvious solution is to remove some of these elements until after FSinn has been opened. Be it loading a default aircraft first, default scenery first or any other tweaks to your "Start FSX and get ready to fly on VATSIM" process.

I have this same issue with the 738 and it all started after installing an FSDreamTeam scenery. It added something somewhere which i'm trying to find and see if that's what's cousing it. Something to do with HD.

Hi all,

I have had fsinn for a couple of years and always started it from the add on menu from within fsx.

However, yesterday I got the pmdg 777-300 expansion and fsinn just freezes when run from within fsx.

I never had this issues before I used to fly he level-d 767 and pmdg-747 andand the 777-200LR.

So something changed with the install of the 777-300, not sure what it is.

If I load the default tryke and start fsinn it works.

This makes me believe, it something to do with pmdg install.

For the record, I used the same scenery, and the same saved flights that had worked perfectly earlier with Level-d 767.

Try the Level D loading up at Orbx's YBBN, Leaving it overnight sitting on the ground at Orbx YBBN for 8+ hours, THEN start FSinn.

bet it won't ;)

... Don't ask how I know lol.

My RAM is 6GB, should I be looking at increasing to 12, its an old i7-920 OC to 4.2GHz and triple channel memory.

I just want to know is it a matter of throeing more computing at it or is FSInn and PMDG have inherent issues...

I've even had issues opening FSinn in the Default Cessna C172 at some airports. Aerosoft Mega Airport Amsterdam EHAM (with NL2000v4 active all areas too, FTX England over the channel) is one.

EGLC London City with the UK2000 EGLC + EGLL + EGKK + FTX England all running = Starting FSinn freezes FSX to not responsive even in the default C172.

So unless PMDG 777 has created inherent issues in the default FS2004 Cessna C172, then no. It's not a PMDG problem, it's probably a "Too much stuff in the Virtual Addressing space" or "Too much processing going on in the background stopping the FSinn boot process" type of problem.

I can start up FSinn fine with the PMDG loaded if I'm at YSSY Sydney airport which is basically default (FTX Australia, and an afcad).

This may obviously change when I get FlyTampa YSSY installed there.

Thought experiment:

FSinn takes 3 units of processor to boot properly otherwise it will crash/freeze and take FSX with it.

(Once the boot has completed it will reduce to using 1 unit of processor).

FSX has a hard-coded possibility of using 10 units of processor.

PMDG takes 4 units of processor.

Default scenery takes 1 unit of processor.

1+4+3= 8

Orbx YMML takes 2 units of processor

2+4+3 = 9

NL2000 takes 2 units of processor, Mega Airport Amsterdam takes 2 units of processor too.

2+2+4+3 = ERROR 11 is too much.

The donkey can take 2 sacks of bricks.
PMDG is 1 sack of bricks

High quality scenery is another sack of bricks

FSinn is a single brick.

Which brick broke the donkey's back?
(All of them. If any of the sacks were a lighter load, this would have worked out, but now you have a lame donkey/not responsive FSX)

just use vpilot

It is alot better ;)

Now with FSInn running with the pmdg 777, I am having random freeze. Doesn't even BSOD, just freezes and only option is to shutdown the PC.

Has anyone come across this .

Fscopilot is part of FSINN package and is the most in terms of usefull tool for vatsim.

You have weather radar, traffic match, Tcas, metar ecc.

Another one is vpilot, but very simple with match traffic, chat and atc list.

We are waiting since 2 year's now on a new client, with many feature like the one's from FSinn plus other implementation like acars etc.

Back to the thread:

I found a solution run FSINN outside FSX, then with an utility called always on top put FSINN windows on top of FSX for those using full screen
