May 10, 201511 yr Yes, PMDG recently updated the 737 to allow VC shadows to work On large jet airlines there is almost no downside to hd shadows other than close up external cameras. For bizjet and above sized aircraft there is usually no downside but if a customer had a collection of large piston engined transports or ww2 bombers they might see some odd effects and so not want hd shadows enabled by default for all aircraft of that size. For GA aircraft some gain with hd shadows and some don't e,g the caravan looks odd if you look backwards as shadows are cut off half way town the cabin, similarly aircraft where you can see the wings may show an obvious shadow cutoff. I was RTFM and learned that :-), thanks SteveFx for the even more complete explanation! Now I just noticed 2 things within the Fixer, the first is that when I select the option for "Airliners only" and then Apply and exit, when I get back to that screen it will be selected the option for "All Aircraft", so I'm not sure if "Airliners only" has really been applied or what... The second thing is regarding some "flickering" shadows within the PMDG 777 cockpit, mostly projected on the copilot's seat. I tried to raise the Bias to no avail, and then I put back the Bias to a very low value because I read that it might make shadows depiction not realistic. Thanks! May 10, 201511 yr Commercial Member you are correct, it doesn't display the correct option, looking in DX10.ini it does "work". I will fix that in the next release. Update: actually it didn't work at all - now fixed in the next release My FSX Analysis Blog
