October 21, 201312 yr Thanks for the link! I'm wondering, though, since I have a new FSX coming, can you have 2 versions of FSUIPC (one for each sim version)? I'm not doing the multiple monitor thing, so I don't need the widescreen utility, but, will fsuipc version 3.999z8 work okay with FSX, or do I need that version of fsuipc? Leafhopper No it wont. Seperate versions for FS9 and FSX. The basic fsuipc.dll is free to download and install. many addon aircraft include it, so you may already have it on your system, but not the latest version. But if you by a licence key you get access to the assignment/calibration tools plus other things. Peter Schluter
October 21, 201312 yr Author Okay, separate versions for separate flight sims! I'll definitely register! Thanks for the heads up! Leafhopper
October 22, 201312 yr . . . and that's a purchased license for each fsuipc version, not one for both AFAIK. Also, interim updates and full links are also here: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/
October 22, 201312 yr Now, if I could just figure out all my new Saitek stuff and my TrackIR. It's going to be awhile before I can actually fly more than 3 to 5 minutes at a time. I've got rudder pedals that, instead of toe brakes, the left toe banks the plane right, the right toe does something else weird and the trim wheel does nuttin' but look pretty. The throttle quandrant throttle works, but the prop pitch seems to want to be the elevator, and the mixture...well, we won't go there! But, I've only just begun to set things up and I've got a lot of reading to do. I might even figure this thing out, if not, I'll be back with more questions. You don't have to buy FSUIPC to fix this, all that you mention is configurable from within FS2004. The default settings are frequently wrong for add-on pedals etc. You can correct and adjust settings from within FS by going to Assignments. Select your device under "Joystick Type" (yes, yokes and pedals will be listed here too). Click on Joystick Axes and scroll down to the appropriate settings and correct them. I'm not saying FSUIPC isn't a useful product but comments in this thread imply it is essential to buy it to solve your problem. You may well want to buy it in due course for other features. But I don't believe any manufacturer would sell a product that required you to buy something else to make it work! John My co-pilot's name is Sid and he's a star! http://www.adventure-unlimited.org
October 22, 201312 yr Author I had FSUIPC installed but when I clicked on MODULES it crashed to a black screen with only my cursor visible and no way to escape. That was before I installed the SP for FS. I have since uninstalled FS and and all settings and folders and rebooted. Then reinstalled FS, started up a flight, exited and closed FS, then installed the service pack. I'll re-install FSUIPC later today and see if the FS SP solved that issue. I did register my copy of FSUIPC because I have the Saitek TPM with 10 switches in addition to the Saitek Cessna trim wheel, and all the buttons on the yoke. I seem to remember that FSUIPC made it easier to program all those things and, I think, FSUIPC when set up will override the FS settings or change them. So much to re-learn! Off to work now, so no FS untill tonight. Thanks again, everyone. I'll be back, I'm sure! Leafhopper
October 23, 201312 yr The options for a registered FSUIC for assignments is to let it do everything or operate along with FS assignments. fsuipc will also do assignments and axis mapping by aircraft if you wish, or globally for all. It really helps to read the manual. fsuipc should not be crashing. You might find some answers by browsing this forum: http://forum.simflight.com/forum/30-fsuipc-support-pete-dowson-modules/ and http://forum.simflight.com/forum/142-download-links/ scrolling down past the links. Before reinstalling fsuipc by running its .exe, get rid of all the versions many installed by add-ons perhaps you stated were spread around. You are using a version of fsuipc3 for FS9, correct? Also insure your registry information for FS9 is correct before installing fsuipc. Run this free registry checker and repair from flight1.com by right clicking on the .exe and selecting run as admin for VISTA, Win 7, Win 8. http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library
October 23, 201312 yr I had FSUIPC installed but when I clicked on MODULES it crashed to a black screen with only my cursor visible and no way to escape. I am using ATI/ADM video card and had a similar problem. Solution for me was : 1. Always run FS9 in windowed mode (not full screen) 2. With FS9 closed, right click on the FS9.exe icon and select properties. In the compatibility tab tick the boxes for "disable visual themes" and "disable desktop composition" Peter Peter Schluter
October 23, 201312 yr Author Great tips, guys! I will investigated these today. Read the manual? Who does that? Okay, that could be a good idea! Thanks! Leafhopper
October 23, 201312 yr Eeeuwww! I fear you may be missing out on a great deal of wonderful graphics, stuck with Windows screen drivers! No wonder NVidia is the make of choice. The drivers are ATI/ADM drivers. Windowed mode does not change that. Peter Schluter
October 23, 201312 yr Can't argue as I don't have ATI. But I do know that windowed mode is something I last used by choice on FS5 On NVidia systems you create a profile for the software which looks completely different (and beautiful!) in fullscreen.
October 23, 201312 yr Anything run in Windowed mode does not fully use the characteristics of the drivers.

The throttle quandrant throttle works, but the prop pitch seems to want to be the elevator, and the mixture...well, we won't go there! As mentioned earlier it is pretty standard that many of the axis' on your controllers will need to be correctly assigned.......when you assign your trim wheel to the pitch trim axis you need to make a full rotation of the wheel(360deg) before it will register as an axis. You might also find that some axis' need to be re-assigned a few times at first before they stay as permanent.
October 25, 201312 yr Author Well, I've got everything assigned and working, even the toe brakes are assigned...but, all planes are with BRAKES stuck on. Copntrol+. doesn't release the brake and I have checked to see if the toe brakes have a sensitivity setting that might be the cause but the rudder pedals toe brakes are not listed in the sensitivy list. I tried changing the key, button assignments but no joy. I tried the search function here but didn't come up with anything. Any ideas?....Anyone?

I think the rudder pedals will be in the list but you will need to scroll down. Having found them, you will probably need to reverse the sensitivity. October 25, 201312 yr Author I have checked everything in the settings menu but I'm not finding the problem. Every time I apply the toe brakes which show up in the lower left corner as differential brakes, the parking brake also is applied and I have to "control "." to release. Very annoying when taxiing. I can't see where the toe brakes are causing this in the settings. I remember something like this after FS9 was released, but I thought the SP fixed it, I guess not. I had CH rudders at the time and I know I found some work around in the settings but it's all hazy after all these years. I have re-installed FSUIPC and still have the MODULES screen black-out when clicked. I have registered FSUIPC, so I will go to see what I can find on Pete Dowson's website...I'm sure this must be a common problem. If anyone has had the brake problem and solved it under Windows7, I'd appreciate the help! Leafhopper (Dave)
