November 10, 201312 yr I hate how the dome turns on automatically at dusk when it turns to night. Its happened a few times on final and really distracted me. How can I disable it? Looked thru the FMC options and turned cabin lights to manual thinking that would fix it but it doesnt. Cant locate any other setting. Jim Burke did you check emerg lights switch ? ...if it is armed, the doom lights switch automatical on as soon eletrical power is off, of course it switch also on if emerg lights switch is in on position, what about the storm light switch ? JG I think I had it armed, but when I am flying sometimes during dusk the dome will just come on before official night in FSX begins, but like I said, the dome switch doesnt move, but I have to cycle it in then off to go back to dark VC. November 10, 201312 yr Author Moderator The funny thing for me is the dome light comes on during dawn/dusk on the NGX but not on the T7, go figure. Yeah thats weird, just the opposite for me. In the NGX if I take off in daytime with all VC lights off and then leave for a few hours and come back when its turned to night in FSX, the VC will be really dark. If I do the same in the T7, it will be lit up from the full brightness of the dome. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 12, 201312 yr With the engines shut down the dome light only seems to come on at the lower brightness even if the knob it turned all the way bright. When an engine is running the second detent on the dome light switch will make the light brighter. I can't remember the specific FSX limitation but in the MD-11 the dome light wouldn't even come on until an engine was running. I'm assuming this is a version of the same limitation we are seeing in the 777 I'm currently over an area of no scenery and pretty light graphics when it comes to active sky. Dome light's two positions both are working now. They were not on the ground. I'm going to test that theory of engine power and the dome when I'm done this flight.
