November 20, 201312 yr Commercial Member With the 1.1 update, this is really a very polished aircraft. It's easily as good as the Jetstream 32 was (and in my opinion even slightly better). Carenado's best aircraft for X-Plane so far. Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir
November 20, 201312 yr Totally agree with all the positive comments here. I have a few of the Carenado aircraft and I enjoy them all, but the C90 raises the bar in my opinion, excellent sounds and hand-flys very nicely. I agree with you mario, Carenado's best X-Plane aircraft yet. Regards Simon
November 20, 201312 yr Is that GNS 430 functional or is it the default XP thingy? Is there such a thing as a GPS for 64-bit XP? Been looking for it, but I'm hoping I didn't do it too well since I didn't get the result I wanted.

Someone/X-Plane-dev/Some-Other-Dev makes one for X-Plane 64bit, or b/. A custom GPS/FMS comes with the specific plane a'la FF 777 & 757

You could use a KLN90B, but most people find it too old, or say it is not used anymore in the real world (which is not true) and thus don't use it (regardless if it's freeware and nearly 100% feature complete). November 21, 201312 yr It's still the default GNS 430. No, there is no Garmin-style (i.e. modern) GPS for 64 bit X-Plane. You could use a KLN90B, but most people find it too old, or say it is not used anymore in the real world (which is not true) and thus don't use it (regardless if it's freeware and nearly 100% feature complete). Well in 26 years of flying I have never come across a kln90b. A couple kln94's including my own which was ancient, a few ancient garmins, and a lot of gns430's/530's, and even a couple Foster Lorans which one I owned. I started flying in 1989-but don't you think ancient should be relagated to ancient? The Kln90b is very, very old. I learned with an adf-never used one after that for 24 years either.....computers, dog years, and gps's/lorans all follow the same cycle. Are you still running a Pentium ii computer in your home-about the same time period...? Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 21, 201312 yr If the KLN90B is still legal to make an IFR panel, then I suppose a few could still be around. I won't even bother checking it's legality. A cheap handheld will do circles around it, for ease of use, a much better sense of situational awareness at a glance...... and would be the one actually in use. Ten years ago, I wouldn't have bothered with a KLN90B, and would have installed a Garmin 430. Now I consider the 430 as terribly outdated. My handheld (Garmin 296) that I used back then, had already surpassed the 430 in screen resolution, and computing power. I've owned two Garmins since the 296.
November 21, 201312 yr The GPS issue is one that I wish X-Plane or a 3rd party dev would address. I reckon that a well made GPS addon/plugin that can be retrofitted (or used together with XP) will garner more sales than developing an aircraft.
November 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member In these discussions you focus on your own experience, which is perfectly fine, for the area or part of the world you're flying in, and if handheld devices are certified for RNAV (or you don't even care about that), it's also fine. Far more important, however, is that the KLN addon is currently the ONLY working (i.e. for all aircraft) way in 64 bit X-Plane to use GPS with current, updateable navigation data and make proper SID/VOR approaches. If you don't just fly 777, 757 or A320, but like to do proper procedures, the KLN is currently the way to go. So, GPS-wise, X-Plane IS ancient, and users have the choice between ancient and nothing. I'd always take ancient in this case. While waiting either for the RealityXP developers to come alive again, or a heavy improvement of X-Plane's default GPS. Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir
