Getting my credit card ready - a bit of advice for 2.0 please

Featured Replies

Would you please be able to recommend addons that are slated to work with 2.0 (I'm a P3D newbie, jumping ship straight from FSX).

Terrain textures

- I've read FTX Global should have a 2.0 installer soon

- Will I have to wait until each of the full-fat ORBX regions have an installer?

Landclass

- Waiting for FTX Vector

Mesh

- ?

Sky / Cloud textures

- Will REX be compatible with the new water engine?

Weather

- OPUS?

AI traffic

- ?

I cannot help you with the rest, but there's a rough timeline posted on the Orbx forum.

Here's the direct link (only works if you are a registered member of the Orbx forum): Orbx products and P3D 2.0 compatibility

Thanks Arwen!

You can just manually install the regions that don't have native installers yet.

I expect OPUS to work out of the box and they already support P3D.

REX is another story. To be safe, I wouldn't mess with the water if you do install REX until we know for sure. Other textures will work fine.

The AI system is the same. MTX already supports P3D. You can install WOAI easily as well.

The current version of OpusFSX is P3D 2.0 ready, so I was told this afternoon by Stephen!

I also asked about compatibility at the REX forum but I haven't been able to reach that forum for a while now (just like I can't reach the Orbx forum) so I don't know if they answered yet.

Thanks for the details Bonchie and Jeroen! Looking forward to having weather and AI loaded and running right away. I run WOAI now, but wonder if the DX10 / DX11 native packages will come with a performance bonus...

I'm assuming Tim and the rest of the REX folks are hard at work getting any incompatibilities ironed out since they were part of the beta team. Will wait and see.

For mesh I imagine anything made for FSX should work.

For AI WOAI should most likely work.

Any word on EZDOK...otherwise it's a deal breaker for me.

Opus is already P3D v2 ready and IMHO, the head movments are better than EZDOK anyway.

Umm that is very subjective. I own Opus and have much respect for the developers, but I have to disagree that the head movements are better. Plus I am more interested in carrying over all the profiles that I have fine tuned over the years for my specific aircraft.

As I said, it's my opinion only. I can only say that opus mimics my real world flights very well

If you have REX for FSX, you need to pay small licence fee (5$) to use it at P3d 1.4. I guess that will be same for P3d 2.0. So, before try anything wait for official explanation from REX team.

Orbx, will prepare dedicated installers for FtX Global, FtX Vector and FtX AUSP4. Also, they're going to release a small program for transferring existing Orbx installs to P3d v2.0 for people who bought DVDs. I don't see any reason why it can't be used for downloaded products as well.

For mesh, Pilot's will release "FS Global 2010 FTXG version" soon ( I guess at same time with FtX Vector).

For AI traffic, Traffic 360 and My Traffic 3d have P3d versions already. I guess we can use them at v 2.0 too.

Great info - thanks Emin!

Would be nice if the people over at Hi-Fi have thought of using Active Sky Next with P3D too.

Wouldn't mind sliding FSGenesis and UT2 in there either along with GEX and UTX.
