Getting around 4.4 MB/sec here in New Jersey.

You obviously have very high speed ISP

Can you download to a saved location and then run the install from there, or does it HAVE to download to the final installed location?

EDIT:Ignore question ... yes you can, downloads to 10+GB zip ! :-)

Seems to me, looking at Chas's screenshot, you can save the download anywhere you want to? I hope so because I was planning to download the files on the Mac at work which certainly is NOT the computer I want to use it on…!

I am rather confused. For something that is supposed to not be for "entertainment" why would they have a midnight release? What companies do things like that? Oh I know, video game companies. Just seems a bit strange but hey, I am not complaining.

Only getting 262k here in the UK at 1023z. Hopefully will improve soon :)

We don't all live in the US. FYI there are 24 time zones on Earth. Besides, if you have worked in software development you'd know that burning the midnight oil is sort of the norm...

I am pretty sure LM is in the US. I was expecting them to release it maybe late morning their time. It seems they released it before midnight their time.

I also ran into the sequence of purchase v2, get download links for 1.4. Currently trying to work it out with LM on their forum (impressive that Wes Bard is online at near midnight ET on Sunday working with customers). Seems to me there's some kind of software glitch that's shunting customers toward the wrong license. Unfortunately the purchasing engine records the v2 license so it's not possible to make a second v2 purchase. I've asked LM if it's better to ask for a refund or stand by and wait for the links. OK by me either way - I figure I'll be using this for a long time so waiting a few hours or a couple of days isn't a big issue.

I ended up purchasing v2 using a different credit card (that worked) and sent a refund request for 1.4.

Same here had to use my other credit card for a second purchase. Just got an e-mail from LM saying my 1.4 purchase has now been refunded. Great company so far regarding PR hope they keep up the good customer service

Yes, same experience here.  Something broke down in the first transaction - it was recorded (and locked out the credit card) but didn't get completed.  So I purchased successfully and just finished downloading.  This morning, I've had a stream of e-mails from the LM guys that are handling refunds.  Their customer service is superb - much better than a lot of the customer service I've seen from consumer-facing companies, not just in flightsim but in retailing in general.  I'm extremely impressed.

Now off to install and fly...
