Don't rush PMDG, P3D v2 is not impressive

Featured Replies

I've been following the V2 release all morning and it seems to me the same thing is happening that happened with the PS4 launch. Everyone was complaining that it doesn't look that much different, no real improvement, ect ect. And what they fail to realize is that the product just came out. Of course Fifa 14 isn't going to look a whole lot different on the PS4 than the PS3. Wait till game developers learn to utilize its full potential How long and how much did it take to get FSX to look the way it does now? Prepar3d v2 just came out, and so far, just my opinion, the vanilla screens are a vast improvement over vanilla FSX. And I personally can't wait to see what developers are able to do with it. And also, I'm excited to know that LM made the program with the intent of 3rd party developers adding to it. I'm hoping this means no more of the, "its a limitation of fsx we can't get around" or "we did the best we could given the limitations of fsx." Just my 2 cents

+1  Well said.

I think that is the key, it WILL get developed. Fsx is dead, no more updates. What we have is it. With Prepar3d, it's alive. It will get updates, things will get ironed out and improved. Something was discovered by a 3rd party developer that precludes them from including a feature, inform LM and they can bring out an update. So, I'm just happy that we have a platform that is being actively supported, and the fact that it's being supported by Lockheed Martin, even better as they no doubt have a good amount of resources

It is highly unlikely that you will ever encounter OOM's with a decent rig with DX11. Just look at Battlefield or other similar games in the high end  graphics sector. Those are miles ahead of what you see from P3D right now. But with the new PDK (don't know exactly how it is called) there is much more possible in terms of effects than we haveright now.

OP is a kid who is being overly melodramatic. He still hasn't figured out that you can set P3D to send you to the free flight config screen instead of jumping directly into a flight.

Our forum is not the place for this stuff - if you want to review/discuss P3D there are other forums for that.
