Best Boeing Jet?

Featured Replies

I am looking to purchase a Boeing jet simulation. I may only buy one of these. I am looking for the best quality add-on, at a reasonable price, with lots of documentation and modeling of the different systems to keep me busy. I am somewhat partial to the older jets. Here is what I have found out on the market right now:Captain Sim-----------Boeing 707 300/320 (FS2004) ($37.07)Boeing 727 100/200 (FS2002/4) ($36.95)DreamFleet----------Boeing 727 100/200 (FS2004) ($34.95)Boeing 737 200 (not yet released) PMDG----Boeing 737 600/700 (FS2002/4) ($39.95)Boeing 737 800/900 (FS2002/4) ($67.90 with 600/700)Boeing 747 400 (not yet released) Ralph's Panel Shop------------------Boeing 747 200 Ready For Pushback (FS2004) ($29.95)I am partial to DreamFleet, but I have not seen a review out yet on their 727. PMDG is the most expensive. The reviews indicate that the PMDG and Ready For Pushback series model the most systems. All of the sims get very good reviews. There are also a couple models on the way as well. I would appreciate any comparisons for folks that have 2 or more of these. Also, do people who buy airliners tend to favor one company over another? Thanks,Scott

I own them all. Here is my ranking:1) PMDG's 737 series (a knockout with FS2Crew)2) Dreamfleet's 7273) Ralf's Ready for Pushback 4) Captain Sim's 727 (needs another patch)5) Captain Sim's 707 (needs a major patch to control extremely erratic, pitch, yaw, and bank behavior during climbout). ricardo

PMDG 737 is the most realistic of them all, I believe.

The pmdg 737 is the best. But you can alos put the LDS767 on your list as it is probably going to be released soon.Wouter

PMDG 737NG hands down.

If you are partial to the older Boeings, get the Dreamfleet 727. It is absolutely outstanding. The CS 727 is good, but the Dreamfleet is two years newer and just plain owns it, period. The PMDG 737 seems to be the gold standard these days; I don't own it because I'm not a real big 737 and glass-cockpit fan, and it's very expensive to get the full set of -600 through -900, but I have heard virtually no negative comments about it and a ton of positive ones.I know a couple of people who really rave over the Captain Sim 707 as well. From what they say, CS fixed a lot of what was wrong with their 727 and left in what was right, and the result is a very good product.Lewis "Moose" GregoryColumbia, South Carolina

the DF 727 is great, but nothing beats rumbling down the runway weighing 350 tons and pulling back the joystick. And the RFP 747 comes with a fuel planner, cargo loader, blah blah. Depends on what you want, but for me it's the 747...billg

If you are partial to the older jets then the RFP 747-200 is by far the best, followed by the DF727, CS707 and then the CS727For the new jets there is only one available in this category at the moment - the PMDG 737 and I would go for the 800/900 if you can afford it, especially with FS2Crew. (Note: they are going to release FS2Crew for the 600/700).As for the non-released products, we can only go on past performance and either PMDG 747-400, PSS 777, and the soon tp be released LevelD 767 should all be good value for money.I'm not sure where to put the DF 737 200, but when released it should also be good value for money.Whew - I think that covers everything.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)

I would also recomend that you wait for LDS767 to come out. The original is a true classic (panel, model, FMC) and the new one is supposed to be even better. It should be out any day now.WS

Hi,Since I am not at all into FMC

Well, I'm a Boeing fanatic and prefer newer glass panels, so Im always gonna say the PMDG 737NG 600/700 and 800/900. You must have both to really get the whole thing (e.g., TCAS II).The LDS 767 is going to be another great Boeing, but serves a little different purpose. I personally can't wait for it either.Anything older (707, 727) is just too old for me, and the 737-200 from DreamFleet will probbably not be out for a while. Here's what you do. Buy the PMDG NG 600-900 now. Next month when the LDS 767 is release you buy it. Then get the 737-200 the month after. That's what I plan on doing!

Ready for Pushback is outstanding. If you like 2D cockpits and lots of panels and switch flipping, with no FMCs- prepare to dig in and be blown away.I like the PMDG 737 since I can fly it 100% from the VC, and I like glass cockpit planes (OK- so I'm a coward :) )I think the RFP plane is by far the best older jet out there- The panel modeling (systems wise) is simply stunning- It's like PS1 for the 742. The external model looks great, but the interior graphics are not photorealistic- Not a reason to shy away from it however, since it's so good. I don't think there is a plane as complete, and I'm not sure there will be for FS9- until the PMDG 744 of course. Remember, that plane has been Ralph's baby- and his only one- years and years of research and work.

I agree, the PMDG could be the best quality but flyes alone, the RFP needs more of your attention to fly it, way more if you use the CIVA navigation and more if you install the CIVA INS in it.1) RFP2) PMDGLeo
