Just to follow up here on this post after awhile. We are currently in beta testing with REX 4 Weather Architect (a truly unique custom weather generator) and we are still working on Weather Direct (our real-time weather generator).

REX 4 Weather Architect

I've somehow missed this forthcoming application.. it sounds very interesting and right up my street, as I prefer to create custom weather rather than real world.

P3D's custom weather interface is not the best, so being able to create weather scenarios before launching, if that is how it works, will be a great leap forward.

Can't wait to see more.

Haha, yeah that's an understatement ... buggy too.  I can't wait for REX 4 Architect ... building my own weather is very interesting to me ... for training purposes of course as I will be sure to put my Spock ears on any time I use P3D.

Cheers, Rob.

Also, heads-up, Service Pack 2 for Texture Direct was just released. Simply use the Check For Updates button within the Texture Direct interface. Make sure you follow it through until SP2 has been installed (for those who are not up to date).

Hey Tim,

Great to see the ability to filter which texture groups are injected in, ala REX E+, however I'm not seeing the primary issue I've always had w/ the interface, which is to show which texture is currently installed, by category.  E+ did this as one would hope, by simply listing the exact texture by name under the category.   Can you please put that in for the next revision?  It's so handy to see right up front which texture set you've been flying around in and makes it nicer when trying to compare sets.

Thanks for the progress so far.

Indeed a glaring issue that has eluded the UI designers. I hope to see a solution in future updates or versions.

Or am I missing something? In REX4, on the My Themes tab, under the heading "Template", are those thumbnails representing my currently installed theme?

I know what you mean by this distinction.  The problem comes when you install a 'theme' I think you can see what the theme was comprised of which is fine--doesn't really reflect what as last installed directly, just what the theme contains.  But if you change any components, you're out to lunch as to what's actually installed.  I guess a work around is to create a theme every single time you change any one texture--but come on!   This is not rocket science and really it should be solved definitively once and for all.  I contacted the dev a long time ago on this so hopefully it is being fixed, though from my recollection he wasn't sure why I was reporting the issue, or perhaps I didn't explain myself adequately which would not be the first time!

Good to hear.  It's a good product otherwise but the main issue beyond the interface GUI is if water textures somehow, some way, definitively improved for P3D V2.x using the DX11 sets.  There are some tolerable ones but geez it's not so good much of the time for 2015.  I never could tell how much control was in the hands of the texture developer versus inherent problems w/ how water is rendered.  The animations are fine but the water textures are apparently tough to improve.  Comments?

Excellent news, thank you. Will your team be developing a set of custom animations designed to enhance the 3d waves generated by P3D?
