Give Avsim time, they may just work it all out and get on top of what is obviously a troubling problem.

Thank you. Yes it is and yes we will.

Tom, can I ask a question? Is part of the connectivity issue related to "file leechers" from the downloadable freeware files section of the site?

It just occurred to me that Avsim as a site offers substantially more than your usual "forum", and from my own perspective, I have had problems connecting when there have only been aprox 300 people online. Yet other times I can connect easily with 700 people online ! Go figure.

The file library and the forum system are located on different servers, however, they do share a common database (which we have plans to separate). The disparity in performance between users online has to do with some processes that drive us nuts. We are paring down feature sets and back-end functions in order to present uniform accessibility no matter the user load. We'll be posting more on this initiative later in the year when some software updates are going to be issued. Also, people should be seeing speedier performance as we continue to look for fixes, tweeks, and areas that need attention (which TapaTalk definitely did). I am also going to state clearly here that AVSIM is a continuing target for spammers. We block thousands of IP's a week preventing spam, and we also block thousand of attempts to disrupt us. Every time the Apache servers respond to attempted spam, disruption or denial of service, that is a little slice of time taken away from handling legitimate users. Add up enough of them and you get very obvious lack of responsiveness by AVSIM.

no problems loading of Avsim forum threads seemed  to improved over  the last week or  so.

We are trying to balance access for guests with that of our members. We use a system that we can turn on to block "guests" other than those that come in via Google and other search engine systems. When we turn that system on, it blocks TapaTalk. When we turn it on, it takes our system loading down by more than half and gives everyone else much improved site access.
