January 16, 201412 yr Its what I do every time when I`m flying for my VA etc. I never said you were having a go at me at any point. I`m just not prepared to discuss support issues on a public forum that's all. I`m only suggesting if you really believe that is the case then please open a thread in the REX forums so the developers can look into it. Cheers Doogie Edit I see you posted on REX so I`ll leave it to Tim or Reed to answer your concerns. January 16, 201412 yr Commercial Member REX 4 does in fact read the weather data and determines the best textures for the conditions. However, we only change the clouds, sky, and lightning textures. All other textures are random. You might see the same clouds used more than once in that some of the clouds can be used for different weather conditions. January 16, 201412 yr REX4 direct is a significant improvement over previous REX versions. The best for me is to load the weather of my destination and install the theme of the destination automatically as per REX. Then turn on ASN and fly. As real as it gets. Shez hello Shez, ASN is active sky right? does the REX4 overwrites the Active sky textures? I dont quite understand the interacction between these both addons... felipe turbay

I've made a topic on your forums and it just says "under dev review" look forward to your finding. David Murden. I did not know it did that. Even with Rex+OD I was never really thrilled with whatever clouds I picked or anything. It would be nice to have a program that picked the right conditions for each flight. Now can it do that but still allow me to use ASN or does REX4 generate the textures based on its weather engine?
January 16, 201412 yr Rex4 does not have a weather engine, all it has is a place to enter a ICAO and it will give you a weather report on that airport. Does it give you the rights ones or just a random set for that airport? Wait and see David Murden. January 17, 201412 yr ASN and Rex work nice together but only with particular sets. Some of them just look completely surrealistic. I noticed that during a snowy weather texture loader gives me cumulus theme without cirrus depiction. Always. So there is some relation between textures and weather when you choose textures from weather tab. Also during winter Rex matches sky colours perfectly. I don't know how it is in summer as I am a real time eu pilot It is also worth noting that under dx10 with fixer when clouds are under sgssaa, Rex with ASN is hardcore for Gpu. Luckily Rex looks most realistic not with high 32 but res but with dxt5 and 1024 res. and I recommend that setting to anyone. In ASN I have also set minimum cdd to 60 maximum to 120 (ASN recognizes when which value is needed and applies it dynamically), upper visibility to 115 (nice horizon look). In dx10 fixer cloud cull on. All of this give me nice looks and very good performance. So yes, both programs work together nicely, but I've just started with hdev2 and I think their clouds are somehow more compatible with fsx (less differences in terms of brightness - in Rex sometimes one cloud is very bright, another very dark and it somehow kills immersion because it doesn't make sense in some places). January 20, 201412 yr Author Guys what theme best describes or remotely comes close to sparkling for rex4 direct ?
February 26, 201412 yr REX 4 does in fact read the weather data and determines the best textures for the conditions. However, we only change the clouds, sky, and lightning textures. All other textures are random. You might see the same clouds used more than once in that some of the clouds can be used for different weather conditions. I struggle to find this even remotely reliable. For example, if I type in KPHX and click generate 4 times I will see 4 different cloud textures at least 3 lightning textures and 4 sky textures. There is no continuity or logic behind it.
March 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Please review my previous post as to how we developed this process. It is clear that some textures may overlap certain conditions. Some textures will be randomize simply because they can not be pinned down to weather conditions. If you need further explanation as to this process please review this post over on this link: http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29627-weather-generate-button/?p=217019 We ask per request of AVSIM staff that if you have support questions or need assistance with REX products that you please use our support forum.
