My apologies Dylan, I learned something today.

I did actually try the settings suggested today but my P3d crashed repeatedly. It worked before, so something's amiss. I intend to splash on a bigger card if the P3d fix inspires me enough. Did you need to use REX 4 to get where you are with the P3d water?

I don't have any issues with the water.  I run my water at Ultra settings and use REX4.  I have found that if you use REX textures, the texture you pick greatly influences what you see at various altitudes.  If you run real world weather, that also affect what you get with the water settings maxed out.

To me it's all personal preferences, computer hardware and graphics drivers/settings.  What works for one person might not do the same for another.  Yes I'm still waiting for the next patch, but am really enjoying what I have now.  Hopefully we will see the patch this month.  I'm willing to wait as I'm sure LM wants to get what they release as bullet proof as they can.  That I'm sure can be challenging with all the diversity you have to program for.

Dylan, on re-reading your post I see clearly that REX 4 is an important component (and a 760-780 GTX no doubt). It's impossible to tell from a screenshot of course if your water has 'motion' and looks 'wet' at low altitudes, as does the FSX water. I hate the waxy look I'm getting at present but from the helpful comments in this thread can see the potential. So thanks SRAces too.
