P3D 2.1 - ALL current issues fixed, patch is on final

What is the brand name of your PC?

How old is your PC?

Which CPU do you have?

Was hyper threading originally ON when you got your PC and you turned it OFF?

Hyper threading should not be causing you problems with FSX or P3D.

Motherboard and CPUAsus P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155  w/ i7 2600k CPU OC'd to 4.5  with 1.39 volts.

Case: Cooler Master HAF932 High Air Flow Full Tower
Memory Modules: Patriot Viper Xtreme Series 8GB DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) CL 8 Desktop Memory Kit (Two 4GB Memory Modules)

I took Nicks advice on what to enable and disable in the MB bios. Not sure if these bios items are relevant anymore. It seems FSX was such a sensitive character, everyone went to the nitty griitty with everything. Not sure when I purchase but it has been a couple of years or more.

Bob,

I have a basic tower/PC since 2011, i7-2600, 16GB, two 1TB HD, no overcolcking, no cooler., hyperthreading Enabled when purchased (8 cores seen in Task Manager), no problems FS9/FSX Acceleration, P3Dv2.

With your PC, hyper threading should not be causing you any problems with FSX or P3D.

Edit: can OCing cause a HT problem? I do not know.

I will try again once the patch is supplied. So many options in the bios, I might just set everything back to default and only apply the OC.

CrossFire/SLI support (along with cloud shadows) are coming in 2.2.

I did not know that ... can't find any reference to that on P3D site ?? ... oh well, my 2nd Titan just arrived too, guess no rush to install it now and very happy we're getting a 2.1 patch soon (with or without multi-GPU utilization, fixing bugs first is best approach before making any core feature changes) ... although I still haven't run out of things to do with 2.0 yet, still "learning" much ... professionally of course ;)

Right, just do screenshots (or write them down) of your original BIOS settings first.

I would do all testing first ... and only apply the OC last ... just my thoughts.

Hey Bob, this may not be an option for you, it'll depend on your motherboard manufacturer ... but, the more recent PC motherboards are UEFI based (not sure if that extends back to 2011 -- something Apple have long enjoyed in their desktop computers going back to 2006) and may require UEFI firmware updates (check manufacturers web site) so that you can use tools directly in Windows to update UEFI settings.  Very handy for overclocking and testing -- most tools allow you to build UEFI "profiles" directly from Windows.

I have an older Asus Rampage motherboard (circa 2012) that was UEFI capable, but "was" running the older BIOS ... Asus provided several updates to UEFI.  Once I installed the process of OC'ing a very stable PC was easy.  So you might wanna check with your motherboard manufacturer and see what they have available.

Cheers, Rob.

They made a post in the forum about that, I'm trying to but can't find it again. That was posted a small while ago though, they might have still managed to get CrossFire/SLI support in 2.1.

I thought I commented before that the 2.1 features like SLI, cloud shadows, etc, are on hold for the moment til we get all the issues resolved. We haven't announced anything on a 64bit version yet, just that we're looking into it, and it's not that easy with this code base being as large and dynamic as it is. And if we do release a 64 bit version, keep in mind a lot of current addons won't work directly with it and will need to be recompiled or in some cases re-engineered completely.

Thanks Arwen ... Wes seemed to indicate "on hold" not necessarily in another patch 2.2 ... at least I can't find any mention of it in 2.2 patch (but it seems the P3D forum search doesn't work).

Anyway, SLi is a nice to have, hopefully it happens sometime this year.

Cheers, Rob.

Rob - in my conversations with Wes he indicated that SLI support was on the priority list but there was no mention of when. Before 64bit support I'd guess!  :)

Yes, he didn't say that CrossFire/SLI and cloud shadows will be in 2.2, but the 2.2 update is going to be what they were originally calling 2.1.

FWIW, looks like 2.2 will be focused on the new features...  maybe including the SLI and cloud shadows...

Well that's a bummer.

I run widescreen 6100x1080 and have a pair of 780s. SLI is pretty much a must for decent framerates at this point (for my setup, anyway). With shadows off, tesselation all the way down (not off, but the slider down), autogen at high, I still manage only about 12fps on average, with 20 or so at cruise.

I was definitely hoping for SLI for alleviate some of that performance bottleneck.

I'm happy to see my ThrustMaster T.16000M Hall Effect stick is fixed in 2.1.   B)

Good to know. I may go ahead and upgrade from my 680 Classified to a 780TI classified. I was actually thinking about buying another 680 if SLI was going to be available in the patch....
