Note on performance for Vector.... Use the Vector configurator and turn off some of the secondary features... Only keep the majors important to your experience... Can make a significant difference on performance.
-
Available now

Do not know if this applies in your particular case, but if you had previously purchased and installed FS Global 2010 for P3Dv2, you only need to download and run the new installer and not the entire set of files.. +1 for using FlashGet

I would just say goodbye and wish you the best with a sim you find to your liking... I did and the sim I left was FSX and the sim I am liking is P3Dv2.4. Each to his own. There is plenty of info in forums for P3D tweaks and hardware. Just look at the contributions from Rob and many others. That is not Lockheeds/P3D's job for us many "academic" users. Just my honest opinion. Cheers and happy flying... :-)

Let the wife have a fly around ORBX NCal KSFO in a 737... Then KSEA and Mt Rainier/St Helens... I think she got hooked... She was amazed at the details and she had a blast! lol...

My experiences upgrading from V2.2 to V2.3 with P3D
pasayten replied to theskyisthelimit's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
With v2.3, I have found that I can increase MXAA from 4 to 8 and still get great fps. :-) -
I live in Winthrop, WA. We have had multiple fires, including the largest fire in the history for the state of Washington this last month. Here are a couple of videos of some large planes making the drops... DC10 dropping fire retardant over here a few weeks ago in Twisp/Winthrop... Goodness that is a BIG PLANE! C130 (I think) dropping right overhead...

FYI, Looks like we will be getting another patch to fix a new bug in terrain shadows... We found the issue with terrain shadow casting. We changed some variable names in the terrain shader and missed a few entries. Looking at it now, I'm a bit surprised the shader compiled. It would best to keep terrain casting disabled until we can put out an update. http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=7882

I know that Nvid Controlpanel does not have as many options as Inspector, but since P3DV2.3 does not need a lot of tweaking, can I just use it? In controlpanel, under tranparency sampling, is "4x (supersample)" the same as inspector "4x sparse grid supersample"? I was going to follow some of Rob's settings at http://www.robainscough.com/Prepar3D_Settings_2.php Thanks in advance! Ray

Patch installed fine for me. "Computing Space Requirements" part does take a while. I had deleted some of the old cfg files and let them be rebuilt and deleted shader cache. I do get a complaint at startup for ORBX obectflow.dll not tested with the new version of P3D... I said run anyway and things seem to work OK. ORBX will probably publish a new library for the new patch. Performance wise, I am seeing that all cores of my i5-3570K are being used (no more affinity mask needed now)... getting less stutters around KSEA and FPS has gone up from 30 to high 30's and low 40's in the KSEA area. That is an improvement for my system. Water/waves textures in distance sometimes seems to shimmer strangely, not sure what that is about. Backed off Rex4 water stuff and still getting some strange shimmering. Will play around with that a little. I like the patch so far!

For me, affinity mask = 15 on an i5-3570K (4 core - no ht) = No blurries. My only tweak now and I am enjoying the flying. LM says that next version/patch will turn on all cores by default and then I will not need the affinity tweak.
