Question on autopilot On/Off assignment.

Is it possible to assign the CMD button on the aircraft panel to a button on the e.g. Saitek hardware yoke?

Question on autopilot On/Off assignment.

Is it possible to assign the CMD button on the aircraft panel to a button on the e.g. Saitek hardware yoke?

Page 14 of the included documentation "2-interface guide.pdf" file contains all custom commands available to map. These are the ones you are looking for:

ixeg/733/autopilot/AP_A_cmd_toggle

ixeg/733/autopilot/AP_B_cmd_toggle

you can map them to a key or joystick button of your liking under settings -> joystick & assignments -> button adv -> select your desired button and press custom commands top right corner, navigate the tree until those commands.

Thank you for the answer.

I have not purchased the IXG737 yet (... no manual).

Actually, as a follow up, I asked because I could not easily assign the Autopilot On/Off to my yoke button in the Xplane10 JRollon CRJ200 (or the FF767-300 as far as I know).

Very good to hear it is available in the IXEG737.

If I may, you want to map the AP DISENGAGE button to your hardware yoke.

In the real aircraft, the pilot would disconnect AP "not" trough the CMD button on the MCP, but through the AP disengage switch on the outboard horn of the yoke (below the trim switches, see picture). This switch has to be pushed twice: The first time starts disengages the AP and triggers the master warning alarm. The second time cancels the alarm.

It makes sense to have your hand on the control already when disconnecting the AP :)

Same thing for AT disengagement but through the disengage switches located on either side of the thrust levers.

Not sure about the CRJ but on the 767 (and all other FF aircraft) all of the custom commands are listed under "1-simm" in the custom joystick keys window.

I had checked for the FF767-300 (manual) and Autopilot (edit : toggle On/Off) is not in the  "1-simm" list ...

AP disc definitely is, not sure about AP on.

Thanks .. yes you are correct .. I changed my previous post to :

My intent was to be able to use my yoke button to turn On the autopilot during takeoff and turn it Off during the approach. A Toggle On/Off function.

That would be nice, head over to the .org forums and request it. Shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Felipe,

Thanks for the follow up.

I just started testing the FF767-300 and am submitting problems I found via their Support Ticket system. So, I will ask (request) them to include Autopilot On/Off toggle in their next product update.

But here, I was actually asking just about the IXEG737 .. and it is already possible .. so all ok.

Jaime,

Thanks for the answer.

Ok, sounds good.

That is what I would do.

What you are asking is not possible, at least not realistic at all which defeats the whole purpose of an advanced real life simulation.

AP engage vs disengage are two completely different things. You can not create a realistic ON/OFF toggle. Main reasons:

-AP disengage requires 2 push on Boeing, one to disengage which leads to a terrible horn alert kicking in, and an additional push to confirm you know what you are doing. So AP_Disengage requires two click, you can not toggle ON/OFF here.

-AP engage is a complex process, you may engage LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT APs, 2 or 3 of them selectively. So it won't work via a single clic either, much less combined with disengage.

What you may ask is the custom commands to engage LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT separately via 3 buttons or keys of your liking that mimic a real life pilot pushing LEFT, CENTER, RIGHT APs via its fingertip.

note If you are running FlyWithLua as of today for Real Terra Haze or other purposes you can easily run a script to have these custom commands available

That's exactly what I was talking about though I didn't go into as much detail. Like always mmrelles you always go the extra mile haha.

Quick question - why does FlyWithLua suddenly open a huge text box on approach with the IXEG, after disconnecting auto throttle? I haven't had the change to read the text box properly since you know, I have to click that windows away before I crash. But it said something about IXEG, FMC and authrottle.

Anyone else experienced this?
