IXEG

Well guys, I'm the one that spilled the nuns' rosewater all over the cabin in those videos so I'll chime in. First off, we shot this literally two days after the IXEG came out so I'd had almost zero time to get some practice in and it was before the pretty comprehensive patch that the team pushed out. Our 733 pilot Jonny was indeed mightily impressed and (before I'd hit the mic recorder) was singing the praises of the cockpit dimensions and feel. In fact the bit after the shutdown in Manchester with him saying he felt like he'd been at work was not supposed to end up in the final cut, but I left it in.

As a rookie X-Plane guy I had tried to get into the platform a few times but always found the add-ons lacking in polish. They were kind of 67% there, but fell into the dust quickly in terms of systems, sound, modelling and usability compared to the PMDG/Majestic benchmarks.

I have to be honest and say that the IXEG changes all that. If you watch the videos you can see how well put together this thing is - the timing of the engine starts, the sounds, the way it all happens so beautifully and the incredible immersion that no matter how good the modelling is, P3D and FSX just can't match. I know a few people who've not touched P3D since this thing landed and will find it very hard to go back. I know I will!

I have a sneaky suspicion that this aircraft has single-handedly just taken a crowbar to the door of FSX/P3D users and moved on the game for XP the furthest since it launched in 1993. There are a lot of people looking at these videos with the clouds lit up by the landing lights and the stunning night visuals who will start wondering why they're clinging on to a platform that has legacy code from before they were in school. Once people like FlyTampa and FlightBeam start looking at port-overs, the trickle will be a tide, I'm sure.

Is it perfect? No. OK, we haven't got TCAS and a few other toys yet, but they will come. The VNAV still isn't totally stable but heck, my BMW 730 had to go back to the dealer for software updates almost every week when I first got it. I can't fly the thing yet (as you saw!) which I'm putting down to the very touchy rudder in the first version as seen in the videos. I'd like the pitot and window heat clickspots on the overhead to be a bit bigger as they're a pain to hit from the Captain side and a bit more PMDG style assistance would be nice for those times when you're frankly feeling a bit lazy. By that (purists look away now) I mean maybe the option to sync the FO baro to stop all the slewing around the flightdeck to get to it at busy times. It's not a big deal on the ground but it's a big deal late in the descent. Also perhaps an option to automatically slew the speed bugs round on the ASI, and my uber wish is a neat, one click option - even a hotkey - to do the fiddly FO cleanup stuff on the taxy in - landing lights retracted, flt/gnd, pitots, wx radar etc. As you saw, I really struggled to do all that without crashing so a bit of optional help with that would be great.

But all in all, what an achievement. Well done IXEG.

Thanks for the videos Ben, I have thoroughly enjoyed them, much as I did your Q400 pack.

Indeed Ben, even my wife has watched your video,  a heck of an accomplishment as I couldn't even get her to pay attention to it while I worked on it.

We know its not perfect...but we are passionate to get it there.   We have had to enter the market at a very high level what with the tech available to us, the history of our predecessors, and what can be accomplished now....the number of details to be pursued is staggering.   Given the option of settling for "working systems" but "less immersion" just wasn't an option....we wanted to go for it all...swing for the fence I like to say.   We want to feel like were there in all the senses we have.   It all has to be done if we really want this level... and the more detailed you go, the longer you need and the more you have to do.   If we want to experience this, someone has to do it....bugs and all, adversity and all, complaints and all.  We will put as much love in our cabin 3D and cargo 3D and wing flex and future animations as you see in the cockpit...and as rapidly as possible.  This is as much for us as it is for all.  After 6 years, we're not going anywhere, not moving on to another project just yet.  We have lots to pack into the 737 Classic still!  Thanks for your support Ben, and everyone else also.  Back to work Tom!

Best sim videos have ever seen, guys thank you so much for making this hobby so enjoyable.

Yes, great videos Ben (and Jonny). Love to see XP get the well deserved attention.

And thanks to you too Tom, and the IXEG guys for pushing the envelope. I confess I haven't yet purchased the 733, but I promise to as soon as the annual on the 150 is over with and paid for ;-)

(btw, your MU2 remains my number 1)

cheers,

Kent

It took some time, but we're finally there, indeed :-)

Now all FSX / P3D users can start moving.... or at least, double installing...

Have you now purchased the IXEG 737?

Have you now purchased the IXEG 737?

Nope :-(

But have been watching the videos, specially those by the Airline2Sim team...

Soaring season is starting, and my pocket has a new escape valve opened...

With Xplane10 / IXEG 737 Is it possible to save a flight situation, like during descent, with the panel state and FMC data also saved?

What fantastic videos! It felt like I was there, not something I get from FSX/P3D videos/flying. The way the day turned to night and the cockpit lighting took over seems so natural, as well as the sounds, ahhh those sounds on shut down  :good: As you say this should be the catalyst (along with the soon TM to be released DC-6) to get some FSX/P3D users into X-Plane (me included once I sort a new graphics card). The modern engine/graphics capabilities are far far superior so aircraft, scenery and environmental addons can only get better!!!

Wow I didn't know this aircraft feels that good. Honestly if I had the money I would have purchaed it just to handle fly her.

I would never do an airliner thing for me it's no fun.

I like small and fast.

We do not do that as of yet.  There is an enormous amount of state data to save in order to do that....its the access to such state data that makes x-plane so powerful to customize, yet makes it a major pain to initialize.  We will look into it in the future however, it is a great and convenient thing I agree.

I tried XPX a couple of years ago and came to the conclusion that it was not for me and have been exclusively a Prepar3D user for about the same length of time. I am not using Flight Sim at all now but after watching the videos, especially the Airline to Sim stuff, when and if I get back into it my first 2 purchases will XPX and IXEG 737. I've put XPX on my watch list on steam. I'll be hitting the buy button as soon as it goes on sale :-)
