April 27, 201610 yr This is usually the first reaction to a much anticipated release. While I'm pretty certain this is very good, would you say it is the first XP aircraft to be on par with a PMDG level aircraft, or are you saying it's a higher level still. Legitimate question. I'm just trying to benchmark it against something I know as I don;t have Xplane. Erich, I can not answer your question as I'm not a real pilot nor I own any of the PDGM aircraft, don't fly FSX (I did before XP9 though) tried P3D but didn't like it (blurries & stutters) and so I cannot comment on the differences. All I can say is that I a have been around sims a while to know quality and this bird has it along with performance. Sorry, maybe someone else can chime in and give more info to your legitimate question. I'm just trying to benchmark it against something I know as I don;t have Xplane. as far as features and stability concernes it is not on par with pmdg yet, however it is in throwing distance and not far off. This is quite impressive considering it is V 1.0 However regarding immersion it surpasses PMDG by quite a fair bit. This may be due to x-plane and its lighting, but during approach e.g. this plane feels so much more alive and real than any pmdg aircraft i have ever flown regardless if it has more features or tcas or whatever
April 27, 201610 yr Yes me too, defo on par with pmdg without a shadow of a doubt and that's saying something. We need to factor in the platform as well, I am sure pmdg did not include rain effects and some other stuff due to the 32 bit limit as they wanted to keep the VA's down. No such thing with x-plane, the sounds, rain effects, textures on ixeg are superb as you don't have to worry about memory.. Stefan Ticusan

April 27, 201610 yr Premise: I don't own the IXEG 737, nor the latest PMDG products (e.g. B777, etc.), so I'm just talking based on what I've gathered in these years following IXEG progress. My impression is that the care and level of detail IXEG put into their 737, is unprecedented in the flight simulation world. If you've followed the IXEG blog, you can have an idea of how deeply and accurately IXEG choose to model the various systems of the aircraft. As I said, although I don't have the IXEG, I have the impression that the amount of detail gone into it, in every little subsystem, is possibly superior to other similar products. From what I gathered, this is also true for the flight model. The impression I had following their progress, is that they modeled the flight dynamics at the most possible accurate level. For example, if I recall correctly, they said that even the rudder hardover speed has been tuned according to real world data (incidentally, this could also be a comparison test to do using the PMDG 737NG, to see whether PMDG has gone to this level of detail or not). It would be nice if someone from IXEG could confirm thouse couple of facts. Most of these details will be however lost for a large part of users, but that is the norm for any super hard core simulation product. "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

April 27, 201610 yr Sorry for asking a complete noob question, but I'm trying to buy IXEG on X-Aviation store. When entering the card number for my AmEx, it needs a number underneath it (01 - 12). Can someone please tell me what this is? I've never seen this in Europe. Brynjar Mauseth

When it comes to the brains of things, I would say both the IXEG and the NGX are within throwing distance. It does feel like there was a bit more heart put into the development of the IXEG. The immersion is indeed unprecedented.
April 27, 201610 yr Personally I think it's superior to PMDG, each to his own of course. Right now there's still a danger of new-toy-syndrome with the IXEG, but in general I tend to agree. As it is, the PMDG is more refined - for example, it comes with a nice updater/livery downloader/etc tool; it offers a lot of customisation options from inside the sim (through the FMS screen) and it is essentially free from any bugs. Also, and not least, it comes with a full set of manuals - FCOM, FCTM and more. That's quite a big advantage over the IXEG which only comes with some tutorials and a basic manual. However, what I don't get from the PMDG is the sense of acceleration when you push the throttles forward on takeoff, or the feeling of "oshitoshitoshitoh..." if you fly a risky approach in stormy weather. Just yesterday I flew the approach to RW02 at Santos Dumont airport (SBRJ) with the IXEG loaded to almost its max landing weight, and that was one of the most mesmerising things I've done in a flight simulation to date. I managed the landing and stopped on the short runway, but all during the approach there was an overwhelming sense of being right at the edge of what's possible with this aircraft. To be sure, you can do the same thing with the PMDG NGX, but it just doesn't feel the same. That said, there's still a fundamental difference between the two - one is a 737 Classic, the other an NG. Personally I prefer the more old-fashioned steam gauges of the Classic but for others it may be the other way around. All in all I think both the IXEG and the PMDG are worth their money's worth and among the best addons you can buy for XP10 and FSX/P3D respectively. By the way, I never realised that the birds in X-Plane were anything other than a visual nicety. One time I landed the IXEG at night, touched down and started to slow the aircraft - right then I saw a large flock of birds sitting on the runway. They started to fly away, but as I was still going at some 80+ kts they only just got off the ground and I rolled right into them. I didn't think anything of it, but almost immediately heard two heavy "thumps" followed by some alarms going off... Had to call the tug to get off the runway as both engines flamed out. Quite embarassing!
