Default Baron autopilot not following G1000 setting

Hi Nigel. the GNS530 Trainer is a freebee stand alone software which can run outside FSX and used to gain experience and use as a learning tool.

if you purchase the Reality XP GNS530 and install (into FSX) you will be instructed during the installation to install the 'trainer' on the next page, when the next page comes up its at the top of the lists of manuals and info.

once installed you should see the 'GNS530' at the top right hand corner of the gps gauge with an 'XP' logo underneath.

if you have already installed the trainer you may not need to reinstall it but this needs to be confirmed.

I have misunderstood the blurb - I thought it said the GNS530 was part of the installation. But reading again I see that it seems to say that it's 'ready' for the Reality XP GNS530!

A tad misleading, as it could include allsorts of add-ons on this list!

Do I assume the default FSX GPS appears?

The B60 comes with a RealAir version of the FSX GPS500.

Instructions are provided about installing an RXP GNS530 that must be purchased

separately - ^_^

if you have already installed the trainer you may not need to reinstall it but this needs to be confirmed.

Word of caution:  Replacing a G1000 using FS Panel Studio is not a simple thing, and may not be possible in a variety of newer planes.

No disrespect, but I wish folks would only recommend things that they have personal hands-on experience with....

Note the words from the documentation:

gt_orange.gif  While FS Panel Studio can be used to perform some editing of gauge placement in Virtual Cockpits, VCs are primarily implemented in the model.cfg file, which defines 3D geometry which cannot be edited in FSPS.

Also, the comments about Garmin database updates are themselves somewhat out of date

While I am an FS9 user I am on the Reality-XP forum for other RXP products and the Garmin trainer lack of updates was a consistent complaint. If they have improved then I apologize.

However, if using an add-on flight planner that is AIRAC updatable then the navigation equipment that has terminal approach data in it needs to accept that same data as well so especially for terminal procedures. I use the FS9 classic PMDG 737 series and for a planner FSBuild. Every so often I get a one-off AIRAC update (in each format) that updates the FMC terminal database and navaids as well as in FSBuild. For SIDs and STARs that are long it is essential that agreement exists for the ATC enroute phase which may include parts of the SID or STAR.

The OP's goal is mainly VFR but sometimes especially for his RTW trip IFR is necessary or even with VFR some airports require terminal procedures be followed.

I agree that programming an FMC in an airliner is a different challenge than flying IFR in a GA aircraft.

Flying a Duke cross country can luckily be done IFR, by flying published ILS and RNAV approaches, combined with VOR to VOR routes to get you there.. with the odd NDB thrown in for good measure  ^_^
